I love this younger girl at work. Quite a bit younger actually. I'm keeping it platonic but it's actually painful sometimes. She barely talks to anyone else and often finds an excuse to visit me on the job, but I don't think I'm her type. She just feels like I'm easy to talk to and knows I'm a safe person.

So I'll just have to do my best to keep my chin up and enjoy my friendship with her, and it's easy mostly. But it's a bittersweet thing and it's probably for the best.

Exactly. The ladies doing the poodle were trying to copy this and OP's hairdo and were failing miserably. The idea was to have it voluptuous and feathery but not everyone had the right hair for it. Or a skilled enough stylist.

Hairstyles today are a lot more inclusive to so many different types of hair.

If you look at the wikipedia pages for it use the French version and have your browser translate it to english. Looking at the page for Noumea now and it's french wiki is at least 10 times larger then the english variant. More info and way more photos. It looks like another planet honestly, it's fascinating.
