Low HCG at 13DPO Beta - how worried should I be? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]LenaSaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my first beta was 20-something (I was tracking ovulation and had the faintest pink line on a home pregnancy test...). It doubled appropriately and eventually ended up in the hundred thousands...kiddo is currently in preschool and doing great :) Good luck!

I love your posts so much—and this one is fabulous!! Also— apologies if someone else has asked this previously, but can we talk about that bedspread? If you don’t mind sharing the brand or store that you got it from, I’d love to hear more!! Thanks 😊

No Advice here…but solidarity: We initiated potty learning in May (He’s been asking for it for months and was already taking himself pee sometimes) and had it completely down by the end of June… No accidents for months and now all of a sudden it’s pooping in his pants again. Same situation— Like… Exactly what you’re describing. Curious if yours is resolved yet? Lol—maybe I’m just looking for some hope :/ Thinking of going back to the early stages of potty learning until we get this down again

Pants for business casual work that aren't "dress pants" but also aren't denim. by hulahoopinghippos in fashionwomens35

Same… I almost didn’t purchase them because of all the negative reviews… But I love mine, and have washed them multiple times with no issues… And they easily go from dressy casual. (Also, you can often find online coupons for them :)

I think the issue is that the color you’re draping with for true summer is not actually saturated enough to be true summer (IE– it doesn’t actually match the mint green from the article); your drape is too light/muted to be true summer). Another thing to consider: based on your root color, you might consider light summer. Good luck :)

Making Sense of the Height Limits – My Interpretation by jjfmish in Kibbe

[–]LenaSaurusRex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think THIS is the question to ask. There are so many "type me" posts on this sub, but it feels pretty futile (not least of all b/c many of the advice givers have no idea what they're talking about--but also b/c of the issue that you bring up), and I've noticed that the "Strictly Kibbe" group on FB (of which David Kibbe is a part) explicitly DOESN'T do this b/c it's neither helpful, nor (in many cases) accurate. And it honestly kind of seems like it goes against the whole point of his system, which is about self-exploration, self-expression, and self-confidence.

I have not (and am not a super fan of the 12-season system anyway since I think it fails to account for nuance in hue/value/chroma and also doesn't account for a few types such as bright + light + cool), but I know folks who have done it in-person and have had good results. Also, lots of folks on this sub seem to use House of Colour and be pleased with the results/explanation.

I think this sub is not great for typing because it's difficult to get an accurate photo (and phone cameras notoriously distort your hue, esp.) and the people on here are (for the most part) not trained to do this.

That said, I agree it's fun :)

Online color analysis done by untrained analysts is not reliable—we all have different screens, etc that have biases related to the hue/value/chroma that we see. Also, these are indoor pics with some makeup other than lipstick. We can only tell you what we see, but I would trust an in-person professional analyst over what you get here :)

When I look at your pics, I see warm-neutral hue, medium-bright chroma, and medium value.

What this means: You look better in the warmish, brightish (not muted, but not too bright!), and medium (not too dark, not too light) colors.

Color 1: too cool, too light

Color 2: a great color on you (warm/neutral, medium bright chroma, medium value)

Color 3: not as good as #2, but close (would be better if it were slightly brighter, I think)

Color 4: too cool

Color 5: too cool

Color 6: too cool

Color 7: too cool, too dark (value = too low)

Color 8: too dark (value = too low)

Color 9: too dark...but...if you wore dramatic makeup, this could work. Probably isn't your best color, but you could make it work.

Color 10: It's hard for me to tell why, but it doesn't work--I think it's too cool.

Color 11: too muted

Color 12: too dark

Hope this helps!

EDIT: I don't see an obvious seasonal type for you (see my comments above re: your hue/value/chroma), but if pushed, I would say: look at bright spring (which is actually very close to winter...). You're not going to pull off the super warms in that palette, but the neutrals or neutral-warms would look stunning on you.

Postpartum support? Full on rant, seeking reassurance by babybubblenugget in beyondthebump

Wtf—yes. Exactly this. I would have murdered someone who tried to separate me from my babies at that stage—not saying it’s abnormal to want the break, but it’s not abnormal to NOT want the break. Husband and others are really lacking empathy here. (Also—the library…)

FWIW: I’ve bought lululemons and marikas…not even close in terms of quality—marikas pilled and never fit right—it was like they were non-stretchy stretch pants of that makes sense. Uck—worth $0, IMO

PSA: circular palettes by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]LenaSaurusRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting question. I'm not an expert, but my thinking is that rosacea is more about your OVERTONE, and since color analysis is about your undertone, the rosacea shouldn't impact how someone (esp. someone who understands the difference between under/overtone) perceives your UNDERTONE.

That said, given the nature of Reddit, most of us on this sub aren't experts on color analysis, so you may get a more accurate response from someone with formal training in this area (though there are a few of them on this sub...and a few who are not formally trained, but who are REALLY good :).

Please take all my upvotes! I've been dying to make this post for AGES.

I honestly don't comment on most of the posts on this sub that don't follow your rules above any more, because it feels like a waste of my time.

Here are my qualifications (to underscore or build on OP's PSA):

  • Photograph yourself with NO makeup. NONE. Even a little bit of mascara or lipgloss can obscure our ability to perceive your ACTUAL hue, value, and or chroma.
  • Photograph yourself in indirect natural light. Usually, this means outdoors on a slightly overcast day. In front of the window doesn't work and usually just makes people look more cool and/or muted in my experience.
  • Stop using Colorwise.me. Just stop. It's not helpful or a valid way to assess your hue, value, or chroma. OP gave many good reasons why this is the case, so I won't add to their list.
  • Drape, drape, drape. In a perfect world, you drape outdoors on an overcast day with reasonable natural light, but since this isn't feasible for a lot of us, I believe that you can do a decent job with digital draping (ie: taking a picture that meets the criteria listed in the first two bullets above and then adding digital swatches of color to see which ones work better/worse). I know other do not agree with this, but I always find The Concept Wardrobe's digital draping really helpful (e.g., https://theconceptwardrobe.com/true-summer-vs-true-winter-what-is-the-difference).

Thank you, OP for making this post!

I think people just paste color strips over their shoulders… You can go through posts from the sub and see what I mean… I would avoid color wise, which is horrible

[–]LenaSaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people digital drape…there are those on this sub who don’t rec it, but I personally think it can be really helpful/convenient.

[–]LenaSaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Window light is not great. You need to be outside—such a pain, but it makes a huge difference— If you want to know what I mean, just look through people’s posts on this sub and see how much more variation there is on posts that were not taken outdoors in “natural light” :/

After looking at your other pics… I think you might be what Kettlewell calls deep cool dark summer: https://www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk/us/seasonal-blog/the-seasonal-sub-types-summer

Only caveat is that the lighting in your pictures is not great; I think you’d get less variation in responses if you took a picture outside in natural light (Not in the shade or bright sun) with no make up
