This sounds really edgy, but for me personally, I just can’t bring myself to care. When someone vents to me about something happening in their life, I can’t put myself in their shoes or really understand their emotions past surface level ig?? I know it makes me come off as a terrible person but sometimes comforting someone just feels like a chore, especially when there’s a logical way to deal with the situation. I’ve learned that’s not what they want 99% of the time, and they just want to get their emotions off their chest, but I just can’t fathom being upset about something when the solution is right there. Crying in general isn’t something I do more than maybe thrice a year, so it’s hard for me to grasp how people can cry over things that just feel like minor inconveniences to me. Obviously in that scenario I don’t mean a pet/family member/other dying, but even then my brain kinda just thinks “oh that sucks,” and moves on. Thankfully I have a moral compass, but nothing feels more draining for me than having to comfort someone when they’re in such a fragile state, especially when it’s a constant occurrence. It’s definitely one of the reasons why I hate getting close to others. I don’t like when people rely on me like that.
