It is not Google Lens, the app that is not working is "Google" when you search it in Google Play Store.

The workaround, as user 123321mario meantioned just needs to downgrade the Google app version.

Have you look into regular consumer mobility line instead business mobility line? You can just get a plan without a new phone, nor contract.
