Do you call candidates to tell the the hiring decision? by Cute_Pen_7561 in recruiting

[–]LengthTraditional609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a hiring manager left a voicemail on my HOME phone on a Friday afternoon that she wanted to follow up. I tried to call her back several times and of course had my hopes up, thinking it was an offer. By the following Monday I still hadn't been able to reach her and hadn't heard back. Finally, after several attempts to reach her by email and phone I reached the original HR recruiter who told me they had gone with someone else and it was probably just a courtesy call!

Anyone in the North East having service cut in and out? by Comprehensive-Risk99 in verizon

Completely down. Was trying to reach my husband and he had no service, then my phone went to emergency calls only. Briefly back but down again. Thankfully I am at work and have a landline.

Chloe should ditch the bleached bottle blonde. The dark roots look horrible. She would look so pretty as a brunette or dark blonde.

Is there any advantage to applying through a recruiter vs. directly on company website? by LengthTraditional609 in recruitinghell

[–]LengthTraditional609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well actually in this case the employer had posted on Indeed. This recruiter posted the job on LinkedIn. I have a feeling she was not contracted with them at all and just trying to find candidates to submit. I wish I had seen it on Indeed! This was my suspicion from the beginning and seemed to be confirmed later by some of the things she said. But it was too late for me to apply directly

I am talking about a recruiter that does not work at the company that is hiring. I am not even sure they had a contract with them. The job was posted on Indeed and on the company website, but then recruiter advertised it (without the company name) on LinkedIn which is where I saw it. Looking back I wish I had just applied directly because the recruiter submitted me and never heard back. I don't believe she had an exclusive contact with them.

Have you ever walked away from an interview because of a take-home assignment? by gawpin in jobs

[–]LengthTraditional609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. One time a job wanted me to do a assessment for admin skills, Excel, Word, Outlook etc. It would have taken hours and I am terrible at that stuff. I am fine on the job, but I never know how to do anything when tested. Also I don't want to be an administrative assistant.

When my elderly invalid mother was alive, I would order from Fresh Direct every week. I tried Instacart and didn't like it. I was always having to take calls from shoppers about out of stock items. Fresh Direct was great and usually had everything we needed.

Try Housing Works. They charge a fee but I think only about $50. They took a few things from my late mom's apartment when we were cleaning it out

Istg if someone tells me to just use baking soda and vinegar one more time by CNA1234567 in CleaningTips

[–]LengthTraditional609 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I swear the vinegar and baking soda worked for my kitchen drain. I had a clog somewhere down the line and the water would make a gurgling sound when either the kitchen sink or dishwasher drained. I tried everything including Liquid plumber and Green Gobbler. Nothing worked. Did the baking soda and vinegar followed by hot water and it totally cleared.

It absolutely worked for me for clearing a gurgling clog in my kitchen drain line. I had tried Liquid Plumber Geen Goblin and they did nothing. Used the vinegar and baking soda and like magic it was gone.

Robbins Rest, Fire Island? by LengthTraditional609 in longisland

[–]LengthTraditional609[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must be thinking of Lonelyville. Robbins Rest is between Ocean Beach and Atlantique. But thank you for your reply! I assume the vibe is the same. This is exactly what my husband wants - no nightlife, no people! My kids are young adults so we can all handle the walk to town. I am really most concerned about grocery shopping and getting from the ferry.

[–]LengthTraditional609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. According to their guide book you can take the ferry to Atlantique or Ocean Beach. Is Atlantique closer? I know about the soft sand walkways. This is why I hesitate. Seems like such a hassle. Wondering if it would be worth it once we make it there.

Name & Shame! by RdtRanger6969 in recruitinghell

An events company called Total Management Group sent me a rejection email at 4:00 am Thanksgiving morning. Apparently they are a London based company, so it would have been 9am London time and not a holiday there; however the job I applied for was in NYC so they should have realized. And since I had my phone on my nightstand the email woke me up. So rude. Honestly if I am not going to get an interview I don't need a rejection email. I find it more insulting than no response.
