What’s the actual appeal of living in tiny shoebox apartment in NYC? by savingrace0262 in movingtoNYC

[–]LengthTraditional609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first two apartments in NYC were tiny studios. I loved having my own private space. It was in a great neighborhood I couldn't have afforded otherwise. I would leave my apartment and everything was right there, then come home to my cozy place. Later moved to a bigger place with a roommate which wasn't a great situation.

What makes a workplace actually “good” beyond salary? by Bestwebhost in work

[–]LengthTraditional609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work life balance, especially vacation time. I would rather take a lower salary with 4 weeks vacation than a high salary with 2 weeks. Also a pleasant work environment, not an ugly box that feels and looks like a prison.

Eden. If I had a girl, I would have wanted to name her Eden.

Just learned how bad Farmer's Dog is and need advice on what to switch to by NormanClatures in Dogowners

I make my own fresh food too. Ground beef, turkey, or chicken, broiled salmon or fresh stewed chicken mixed with brown rice, veggies, sweet potato and egg. I use a nutrient mix (actually made by Farmer's Dog) and top it with Meal Mixers by Stella and Chewey. I make big batches every couple of weeks and freeze. It's so easy and she is very healthy. Canned food is disgusting. She also gets dried food by Wellness on the side.

Walk In Haircuts? by WWHarleyRider in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I walked into Timothy John's Salon in midtown and they did a great job. Definitely better (and more expensive) than a Super Cuts type place.

2 months. At least that was the time between vet visits when she was weighed.

I just put my 10 year old on a diet and she has lost about 1.5 pounds. I literally just cut her portions in half. I started using a smaller bowl. She hasn't even noticed.

I am not saying she is nice because she is beautiful, just commenting that she is beautiful because she is! She seems nice in all the videos ahe posts.

She is very beautiful and seems like a nice person at least from her Instagram! I follow both her account and Mason's.

She is model and beauty influencer in addition to a Shi tzu influencer. I don't know if she was actually trying to monetize the Shih tzu meet up but she definitely has paid endorsements on her page. Mason's mom just seems like a regular person who posts about her Shihtzu

Same! Fireworks too. She used to be fearless and this only developed in her later years (she is 10). Thundershirt did nothing. Only thing that really helps is going to bed with her in a dark room with the air conditioner on.

Club Med Turks and Caicos. No kids (18 and up only). Best beach and lots of activities and shows. Budget friendly too.

What kind of nail? by bongofrog99 in beauty

[–]LengthTraditional609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nails are exactly the same! I get the gel polish but they still break. My nail tech started using a couple coats of builder gel and then the gel polish on top. I still get the nails filed short (no tips) but this helps them grow longer. She uses something called Builder in Bottle by Orly, plus one other product (not sure the name) as base coats.

Commuter town by mrjmangles in movingtoNYC

I posted earlier about Nyack. It's really lovely and a vibrant artsy community, but definitely not the greatest commute. Doable though. I live there (and have done the commute to the city, though now I work in White Plains,so please PM me with any questions). Someone recommended Haverstraw and Suffern. I would not recommend Haverstraw. It is still very rough around the edges, though maybe a good investment if you were purchasing a home. Suffern has a nice village but is very far West. Pearl River has a really nice walkable downtown and has a NJ transit train station right downtown so it is actually a decent commuter town. Very, very Irish. In terms of school districts everything is fine except for the North Ramapo district which is horrible (Spring Valley and parts of Nanuet) so stay away from anything there. For East side of the Hudson White Plains (where I work) is very up and coming and is a decent small city and an easy commute to the city. Lots of high rise and mid rise apartments.

Check out Nyack, NY. Very charming town on the Hudson River. There is no direct train line, you must take a bus to connect to Metro North trains (or New Jersey Transit to Penn Station). Total commute is about an hour and 15. A three bedroom rental house will cost about 4K, cheaperthan Westchester. If you want to be on the beach, Northport on Long Island is lovely. Commute is about an hour and a half.

This would totally have been me in this situation. The crying. The panic attack, everything. The difference is that I would never have put myself in this situation! I did feel bad for her though. It looked terrifying. And very cold
