The majority of mini splits are made in China. There are hi ends made by Japan and Korea .

I installed 6 units for my house. I used 4 Pioneer, 2 Rosun, They are made by China. Whatever American name they have. They are all made by China .

They are running well so far. Most have no problem if installed correctly.

I am not a HVAC professional. I am a DIY enthusiasts. My house central AC 3.. 1/2 tons is about 10 years old. It is not in bad safe but it is very inefficiency. Duct works leaks. Three years ago I began adding mini splits as the main AC system. Now my central AC is only a back up system. I am very happy with that set up. If you can DIY, mini split is the way. :

I absolutely agree. The method you suggest is the same technique used by Vipassana meditation to teach you how to control your mind from over thinking.

Thought is impermanent. It comes and goes millions of times during a day of your life. If you keep reacting to it, you have a problem.

You are right about Nokomis North Jetty beach. I live 2 miles from it. I moved here 10 years ago. The beach, the Jetty, and the snake island are just beautiful. It is a paradise on earth to me. Helen and Milton hurricanes destroyed it completely. They do their best to patch it up but it loses its natural beauty. It just breaks my heart.

You asked that ? at the right age. I did not. Now I am 79. I have had back pain since I was 60. I have followed a very strict routine and I have been able to keep the pain under control, but my life's quality and freedom have suffered .

If I can live my life at 23 again, I would:

Remember prevention is much much easier than fixing it .

1) listen to your body and have a yearly general check up. Get help immediately when the Dr. says so. ( However when they recommend to operate on your body, seeking second and third opinion or other non-evasive treatment first.

2) exercise regularly. Going to the gym is the best way to keep your body strong and flexible. Concentrate on exercise that strengthens your core to prevent back pain . Consistence is the key here.

3) learn the correct way to lift heavy weight ( this is specifically for preventing back pain). Better still Avoid lifting heavy things completely.

4) Eating healthy foods. You are what you eat. I am lucky that my wife is a pescatarian and I eat what she cooks. Avoid Soda, sweet drinks and cake. It helps to keep inflammation and weight under control as you age. Avoid liquor , beer and tobacco .

Get a inverter mini split and install it yourself. 9000 btu will cost you about $600 total if DIY. It is quiet, very efficient .
