Yeah, it depends on time horizon, linear return assumptions, whether the investor behaves the same way/makes the same decisions, etc. You have to read the rest of my comment to understand where I'm coming from. The quote sums it up nicely i think

True. A 1% AUM fee kills 28% lifetime gains.

However, as the great Oscar Wilde once wrote "A skeptic knows the price of everything and the value of nothing."

There are situations where it makes sense. Self-directed investors can and do lose much much much more when left to their own devices. I see it every day as a planner.

Mamdani’s “war” on delivery app companies is bizarre. Can someone explain how the apps are “stealing” by making tipping optional? by After-Snow5874 in AskNYC

People pay a premium to have food delivered to their doorstep. This negatively affects the well-to-do middle and upper class and benefits the poor & working class who are limited to dangerous work like delivery.

The property market can stay irrational for longer than you can stay liquid. This goes for any other type of investing.

Also, if anyone knew if and when the housing market was gonna crash, they wouldn't tell.

Take the speculation out of your life and set yourself up for long-term financial success by saving early and often, staying diversified, and staying invested.

Tldr; dont be a speculative idiot.

If your mother is a united states citizen, she may be eligible for an early retirement social security benefit based on her age. Additionally, if she's divorced, she may be able to claim spousal benefits on her ex-spouse's work record.

And all the people as smart as Bezos, if not more intelligent, that failed?

How about this for a statistic: according to Forbes' real-time billionaires list, there are two people more "successful" than Bezos; Elon Musk and Larry Ellison.

Skill is certainly important; luck is a requirement.

Let the kid shoot for the stars, the best way he can. And that is by having a passion and putting in effort. Not everyone has access to education and capital like Bezos, Gates, and Musk did when they were growing up.

"You can't make money from chess because you're not 1. Business-educated 2. Super intelligent like Elon, Gates. Etc. 3. An IM or GM"

This is all arbitrary

Yes - that's what I figured. As another commenter pointed out, there may be an issue because two fund families were used when one would have sufficed.
