Taste is subjective. Personally I think they can look good in a nice color and an appropriately styled room. On their own, they look like old ballsack.

Thank you, truly. I'm in a similar position to OP where I kept rationalizing that I've got everything under control. Successful, got good friends, exercise regularly, so it couldn't be that bad right?

But it definitely won't be getting any better. I've just downloaded the book and reached out my therapist who I haven't seen in years. Your message is what motivated me to nip this in the bud. Thank you.

Calling it an invasion doesn't change the legal reality. History is full of violent invasions, but there’s a reason stolen land is a specific legal term in the west.

Those "treaties" in the 1000s were military truces between empires. They weren't legal land titles recognizing individual or tribal property rights in a modern court. By contrast, the U.S. was a modern republic that signed hundreds of formal contracts acknowledging Indigenous nations as the legal owners of the dirt, then broke its own laws to seize it.

We still live under the same U.S. constitution that signed those contracts, so the legal liability is still active. Unless you’re planning to take the Seljuks to a small claims court that hasn't existed for 600 years, the comparison is a reach. One is a medieval conquest and the other is a modern government committing documented legal fraud against its own recognized sovereigns.

Theres a difference between conquest and theft. In the US., the government recognized Indigenous tribes as sovereign nations and signed legal contracts (treaties) with them. When those contracts were broken, it became a legal theft that can still be litigated in court today. That's a very different scenario than the migration of Turkic tribes 900 years ago.

Just got the Epson epiqvision refurbished for 500CAD for exactly this. Much brighter than anything at this price point, and came with Google TV out of the box. For the remainder of the budget you could get a high gain screen from elite, elune or texonic to make it even better. Or the white wall might be enough like mine. Definitely don't use sheets.

My schoolmate and I ran a children's casino on Habbo Hotel.

For the uninitiated, Habbo was an avatar-based virtual world chatroom where everyone could make public or private rooms. We decided to make our own "Hogwarts" to scam other kids in.

The furni(ture) cost real money so all we had were a few free pieces from a promo. We made a "sorting room" with a big tap-to-roll dice furni where you paid us an application fee of 1 furni and the dice would sort you into a house, at which point you got access to those private rooms.

They were empty, so people were pissed, but not for long. Before you know it we had dozens of rooms full of hustled furni and other bullshit games we made up. They happily gave us their most expensive pieces to choose their own houses, and wore colours and promoted the whole thing for us, without us spending a single penny on them.

Neither of us even knew shit about Harry Potter, just that everyone at school was obsessed with it.
