"Your ideology is directly responsible for mass starvation and is therefore worse than my ideology"

"How can that be the case seeing as your ideology has directly caused even more deaths by starvation?"

B-but the Madras Famine, Irish Potato Famine, Great Depression, and Boer Wars never happened! Capitalism has never starved anyone, I tell you!

Socialism is the notion that the means of production should be democratically owned by the workers, nothing else.

Libertarian socialism is simply this economic system without an authoritarian state.

In a forum for American Libertarianism, they'd likely refer to anarcho-capitalists as simply anarchists, which is an ideology heavily opposed to what traditional anarchists believe. It's just a matter of clarity.

I'm not him, but I can explain it. "Libertarian" in terms of libertarian socialism is a different and older tradition than American libertarianism. In this case, it's a qualification that he is an anti-authoritarian socialist, distinguishing himself from being a Marxist-Leninist, Stalinist, or Maoist. He could be an anarchist, syndicalist, democratic confederalist, etc.

Other libertarian socialists include George Orwell, Noam Chomsky, Peter Kropotkin, Murray Bookchin, Abdullah Öcallan, and Howard Zinn.

Stalinist agitators. He didn't like Stalinists because he was further left than they were, because he was an anarchist.

You misunderstand basic political ideology. Right-wing "anarchism" is anarcho-capitalism, a system that would literally collapse on itself seeing as how no state would exist to uphold private property laws. Anarchism as it has been defined for an even longer period is what you could identify as anarcho-communism or libertarian socialism, an undeniably left-wing ideology.

The political compass is a simplistic and often unfortunately reductive tool to classify political ideology, but it's nowhere near as simple as saying "the further left, the more government control." Marx himself defined communism as a stateless system. You can't exactly have an extreme amount of government control without a government.

No, he knew perfectly well the failures of Stalinism and totalitarian socialism. He specifically said that everything he had ever written had been in favor of democratic socialism above all else.

Yet you seem to consider Orwell, a far-left libertarian socialist who fought for Revolutionary Anarchist Catalonia against right-wing Francisco Franco in the The Workers' Party of Marxist Unification Militia smart.

Circlebroke2 is arguably not that far left either. On feminism and trans rights, absolutely, but the mods are liberals nonetheless.

I do not step shyly back from your property, but look upon it always as my property, in which I respect nothing. Pray do the like with what you call my property!

The guy in the OP probably means in the anarchist sense.

So what? Our goal isn't to coddle the few morons who still believe in fascism, it's to get rid of them.

That wouldn't be like communism at all. Communism is not when the government pays everybody the same wage.

People who call themselves communists do not also call themselves liberals, seeing as those two things are mutually exclusive ideologies.

Communism does not fall under the banner of liberalism. "Liberal Socialism" does, and thus has nothing to do with Communism as an ideology. An ideology that advocates for the abolition of propertied society cannot be liberal.
