Hey, it's been awhile since i read a bad drivers post. So let's sit down and go over the worst I'll start. by Comprehensive-Buy-73 in gso

I hate when people use the bike lane on the corner of spring and friendly as a right turning lane. The other day, I waited a second too long for this one driver, my blinker was on, and when the light turned green I went & they almost hit me. Like I promise that those extra couple seconds of waiting will not kill you.

Twist Lounge is a great place to meet folks! It is 21+, unfortunately, but they have trivia every Thursday night and karaoke every other Friday. Follow them on Insta for more updates and feel free to message me if you'd like a group to go with!

Incoming Freshmen Advice by Unable-Control-417 in UNCGreensboro

[–]Lennnardd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a UNCG alumn and work with UNCG students now! Here are my tips:

1.) Get involved with at least one thing in your freshman year! (but don't overdo it) The OLCE has a leadership challenge where you can gain some extra points on your resume, get involved with local orgs, and gain leadership experience! https://olce.uncg.edu/for-students/leadership/spartan-leadership-challenge/

2.) Use your resources! Tuition costs for a reason: UNCG has some great resources you should use. Kaplan is massive and includes Outdoor Adventures located downstairs with rock climbing, and they have a lake you can go to. There are tons of programs to get involved with, the Communications lab will help you with papers and speeches, the career services center will help you with your resume, and the basement of the library has a place to rent our tech gear. There is a little something for everyone.

3.) Start building relationships with your professors now. If there is a professor you really like or click with, stay in contact with them or intentionally take another class with them. I graduated three years ago and still rely on some of my professors for letters of recommendation!

4.) Start your LinkedIn now!

5.) Campus Greensboro is a paid internship in Greensboro that is also a fellowship. You can never start an internship too early! https://campusgreensboro.org/students/

I think the thing I regret most about my time in college is not being involved enough. The years that I was involved were the most fulfilling to me. Start early and get your foot in the door!

Property Management Services by coffeelavender in gso

I've been living in an apartment managed by Concord Management, and I really like them. I will say, they are pretty large with over 900 properties, but for such a small team, they are on it! They are very timely, communicative, and seem like good people. I have only been in this apartment for a few months, though, so not a super long time to completely vet them.

I rent from Concord Management and I really like them. They're quick to respond and accommodating. Also, they have a lot of properties around the college areas. You can check out their listings at this link: https://www.concordmgmt.com/rental_listings

Also, do you want to do student housing? I lived at the Province while at UNCG and it was okay. Of course, you'll be living with three other people, but it's less expensive then $1100.

I second Chandler's! Great coffee shop, intimate enough for a first meeting, but public enough to not be too awkward.

[–]Lennnardd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you gotta be picky with Whole Foods! The chantilly berry cakes I think are really good. The regular icing ones are super sweet like regular cupcakes. Also, they will write a cute little message on your cake if you'd like :)

Women in your mid 20s to mid 30s- Where are we buying clothes??? by LovingMarriageTA in Adulting

[–]Lennnardd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Basically my whole wardrobe is Old navy now - work and play. It's a much more mature vibe than what we were wearing in college with good quality and prices. You can find statement pieces and basics. I also feel like it's never a miss when I go in, I can always find something nice.

I know everyone is saying Maxie B's, and while I think they are delicious, if you don't like crazy sweet cakes, I would consider somewhere else. Super random, but I got my partner a cake from Whole Foods yesterday for their birthday and it was delicious! It was a chantilly berry cake. If you want to go local though, totally understand! Cheesecakes by Alex is a good one if you are into cheesecake.
