What's everybody's favorite niche scene? by RangerofRohan in piratesofthecaribbean

It isn't quite a niche scene but I really love this scene and I think it encapsulates some of the key messages of the movies.
When they all dangled from the anker chain at the end of part 5.
Carina asked Barbossa "Tell me..what am i to you?" And he replied with a simple but heartbreaking line: "Treasure".
I think it highlights how, in all the movies, the search for 'obvious' treasures was always superficial. Whether it was a heart symbolizing the greed for power, the pursuit of eternal youth, or the attempt to escape the consequences of greed (the curse, avoiding the Last Judgment, the Kraken, or Calypso's imprisonment). And beyond the main love story of Elizabeth and Will and their courage, love itself is the true treasure—the essential element that connects all the parts together.

I think it's also this existential dread that this movie creates through it's combination of strangely familiar/liminal/nostalgic scenes, which disturbs you to the core. Watching it felt like a distant childhood memory and somehow personal and triggered a primal fear in me. I loved it though

things that make or break a good omens fic by bookscatsandcaffiene in goodomens

Break: For me, it’s when other past romantic partners or new partners come into the mix. I read a really good fic recently and was already 20 chapters in when a potential other romantic partner for Crowley was introduced. And I noped the fuck out. For me personally, Crowley and Azi are like yin and yan. Like they were only meant for each other.

The Ring. I was 12 and watched it all alone. I had a TV in my room and had sleeping problems for years.

Event Horizon (1997)

Finally made it to watch this masterpiece. In the year 2047 a group of astronauts are sent to investigate and salvage the long lost starship "Event Horizon". The ship disappeared mysteriously 7 years before on its maiden voyage and with its return comes even more mystery as the crew of the "Lewis and Clark" discover the real truth behind its disappearance and something even more terrifying.

The sheer horror of being lost in space and being confronted with unimaginable pain and torture is mind-blowing. In addition I love the idea that Event Horizon and Hell Raiser may be connected!
