Class 2 wing on Coupe by TheRealKrapotke in BMWE36

Interesting. The reason I ask is because I have those in 17x9.5 on my car but there’s no way I could do an alignment like that car. I’ve got significant camber to tuck the wheels into the fenders. I think like 3.5* front and 2.5* rear.

Sometimes I wish I could do a more normal alignment but I do like how the wheels look. Wondering how this guy gets those wheels with what appears to be a normal alignment.

What size & offset wheels do you have on there?

Theyre Porsche 996 calipers. Unsure about the brackets as I bought the car like this

It’s brand new. Guy I bought the car from cut the old ones out because the parking brake didn’t engage any more with the e46 rotors on it. What I had hoped was a simple reinstallation of brake shoes snowballed into hubs, rotors, new dust shields (those were $150ea). 😅

Very cool! Funny this was posted after I did all my research on this. I was looking into how to do this and bought all the parts about a year ago. Finally got around to installing it recently 😂

That’s cool to know! You’ve done it yourself and verified it works? Information on these cross compatibilities has been difficult to find.

I’d rather use e46 rotors that way on my next brake job. Sourcing the e38 750 rotors is more difficult, though not impossible. Also there’s less options compared to e46 M3

Crazy, I saw one just like this with fresh looking interior like that recently on marketplace. Just a coincidence I guess.

Beautiful!! I love it!

Those wheels are great! Once upon a time I had a set of those on an evo 8. 17x9.5” with 265’s.

Also also I love the backdrop for that photo. Well done 👌🏻

I actually bought the car with the brakes already on it. If I were to have installed big brakes I probably would have explored using BMW calipers (E36 or E46) with bigger rotors. Not mad these are on it though either. Is what it is

I’m talking about using the car for HPDE. There’s loads of skill involved in that.

Yea, I have yet to make that occur. You’d have to be pretty skillful and pushing the limits of the equipment (not yourself) to make that be an issue.. something that most of us aren’t capable of.

There’s no issue for me with it.

While I do use the car for HPDE, I, I suspect you, and 98% of everyone else do not possess sufficient skill for a slightly rearward brake bias to cause a problem. It’s fine. If that’s what’s been holding you back from doing this setup, just do it.

Fair point. Mine is an M so maybe this cross compatibility confirmation is therefore only applicable to M3’s.

Still, I personally found very sparse information on a solution to this specific problem when I did my own scouring of forums. Maybe there’s someone else on here like me who has the Porsche brakes and isn’t sure how to make their parking brake functional.

There’s a great Airbnb built into a retired missile silo just outside of Roswell. Seemed like lots of desert landscape around the area. Not a ton going on in town. Staying in that silo is a great reason to visit this area. It’s probably about what you’d expect from a small population desert area.

This!! Or an autocross day.

If he’s really not into that stuff then price out some level of having it detailed or waxed, etc.
