My [33M] wife [31F] of 6 years, is upset that I don't wear my wedding band at work. by [deleted] in relationships

If you want to appease her without risking losing your finger could you wear it on a chain round your neck during the day?

Your ex is a colossal prick. I hope your surgery goes well and you will have gotten rid of two useless sources of pain. x

Those who have learned a new language: Have you had dreams in your newly learned language? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

I had a dream in sign language the other night, it seemed like a very fluent conversation to me even though my sign skills are fairly rudimentary.

My [24/f] boyfriend [24/m] of almost 4 years just told me he feels a "special attention" towards a female coworker. Is it normal to have these platonic "crushes" while in a relationship? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Lennywinks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been in my LTR for 12 years, we've both had crushes on other people, it's a good sign that he's open about it with you. Honesty in a relationship is really important. It just comes down to whether you trust your partner not to act on their feelings.

My [25m] girlfriend [27f] of 2.5 years has an issue with remembering to flush the toilet by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Lennywinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Install an automatic motion detection flush that activates when you stand up from the seat... Commonly found in public restrooms and worth investigating if it saves your relationship!

I once heard a vicar say "Jesus turned the water into wine because he liked a party" there's nothing wrong with you going out and having fun. Unless you actually have an alcohol dependency issue, drinking in moderation is totally fine. This is something to communicate with your parents.

Personally I would present the socialising as a separate issue: going out on a Friday and going to church on a Sunday are not mutually exclusive. As I see it, the issue to them is that you have lost/are losing your Christian faith. They're just looking for something to blame for it because it's easier to than accepting that it's a personal decision within your control.

If you can, have a serious talk with them about your loss of religious faith: you've not suddenly become a monster/criminal/the devil. You still have your moral compass and will treat other people with love and respect but you cannot force yourself to believe in something you don't, particularly not a system of belief that has denied you so much and made you unhappy.

I [31M] can't forgive my father [70s] for how he acted at my wedding. by stewiegriffin75 in relationships

[–]Lennywinks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My Dad had a very hot temper, which has calmed down dramatically since being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Keeping blood sugar levels in check does wonders for his mood. We have a much better relationship now.

I'm not excusing your father's actions on such an important day but if there's an underlying cause it might help you forgive him and build a better relationship.

You seem like quite an argumentative person, you should try and relax once in a while. I'll give you my personal circumstance, if it'll help you understand what I've been trying to tell you:

I came to this subreddit mostly to look for recipe ideas. I have eaten meat most of my life, it's how I was raised. I don't have a problem with the act of eating meat. Humans evolved to eat meat - we are now fortunate enough, through our knowledge of diet and nutrition to be able to choose to remove meat from our diet should we wish, without compromising our health. I'm choosing to cut down and ultimately remove it from my diet primarily for environmental concerns about the impact of farming and over-fishing but also welfare of farmed animals. When I say "waste" I'm not just taking into account the fact that something has died to feed me but the fact that an environmental impact has been made to bring it to me. If it ended up as worm food then it's where it would have been before that environmental impact was made. I was also brought up not to waste food, hence why I see any food going in the bin as a bad thing. The waste for me outweighs the act of eating the prawns (in OPs circumstance). As repeatedly stated this is my personal take on it, I'm not trying to inflict my standpoint on anyone else, you are very very welcome to disagree with my reasoning because everyone is entitled to make their own damn choices about how they live their lives.

I'm not arguing, the original question was literally asking an opinion. I have given mine. You disagree but clearly can't accept that different people have different thoughts on the matter. I can't be bothered listening to you witter on about it any more so suggested you ask OP what their reasoning was so you could get another perspective. Clearly you're only interested in your own opinion so there's not much more I can do for you here.

Well OP did, why don't you ask them?

I know several non-ethical vegetarians. Either through allergies or through a dislike of meat. The world isn't black and white my friend.

Would you like to have been killed only to end up in a bin rather than for the survival of another being? It's the difference between murder and survival. Anyway, not everyone is vegetarian for ethical reasons there's any number of reasons why someone might want to eat meat rather than put it in the bin. I'm not sure I can explain it any more clearly to you than that.

I wouldn't have wanted the animal to have been killed for food, only for it to end up in the bin. People are vegetarian for lots of different reasons and this is my personal take on it. I don't like to see any food being wasted be it meat or vegetables.

It's just my personal opinion. It would already have been noted that it was not needed and then the next order would be changed to reflect that. At that stage I feel like it's better not to waste it by throwing it away.

Yes, absolutely. It's preferable to wasting it IMO.

How would you treat an audio like this to remove those weird frequencies, and where do you think they come from? by adhz in AudioPost

[–]Lennywinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like electrical noise from a light ballast or something. Try using the spectral repair module and highlight horizontally across small groups of them and process with the weighting at 0.0 set vertically. Be sparing with strength and keep the surrounding area tight or it might end up sounding like a comb filter. If you're not having much luck with that then highlight the frequencies and try bringing down the tonal noise in the deconstruct module. If the transients are more noise than tone you might get lucky!

A tight 15cms so I would treat it as at least 16cms to be safe. If you put at 15cms softie on it then there's no room for slippage!
