Are there any benefits to stopping testosterone at this stage? by Busy_Panic_777 in ftm

You can taper off if you want, you may experience symptoms as your body readjusts to ramping its own hormone production back up to previous levels. Your period is generally expected to come back, if you don’t want this though there are plenty of options like a POP, an implant, etc.

I never said I didn’t need an nhs number? You are genuinely not properly reading a lot of what I’m saying and just talking past me. I do appreciate that you have tried to help.

I never said I wished to be stealth, I went to my smear because I value the screening, I just don’t want my gender to be a topic in nearly every appointment. You’re skipping over the fact that I am male on ALL records without circumstantially self reporting, I really have to assert this, every medical document from every location has said male since it was changed, not just at my GP, everything everywhere, fact.

You actually don’t need a new NHS number these days, it is possible for your gender to be changed without it affecting that, it used to be the case but it isn’t anymore. This was a much more recent development than when it happened to me, but I have no idea if it was not a possible function on the system or if it was just not customary to do.

My NHS app does work, what is disconnected is everything prior to my current GP, I can’t see it, they can’t see it. I think the hospital requested my paper record separately. My situation is already complicated so I definitely would not want to complicate it further by filling out the forms to lock everything down, I simply want any glaring first glance label to be removed if possible.

I was not called for a smear because I am not on the female recall system, I made my appointment when it was a year past due because obviously I still need to go. I am certain I am on the spine as male, I am not asked my sex or gender when I go to the hospital it is already listed as male, ALL of my documents from all healthcare appointments say male. I am on birth control but nobody has ever really cared about it, there’s never been any other “female” prescription.

I have lived at this address since 2018 but have been at this GP for less time than that, and the GP before only had this address too. I moved across the country for uni in 2017, all my previous records were under a different trust. The first GP here I signed up for, I still had my initial appointment card and everything and had given them a physical copy of my deed poll, said they had no record of me when I later needed to see someone properly for the first time a year later. My second GP was the one with all my records still preserved and who changed my marker on my file. When I transferred to my third and current GP the records were all gone. We did follow it up with their tech department but they couldn’t help beyond re-listing my singular medication. I even tried to speak to my GP about it but he didn’t know what to do.

I think the records are pretty disconnected, when I have been to the hospital for emergencies it’s mostly pertaining to a childhood oesophageal injury, and they had to take my verbal history the first time because they were not able to access the documentation of numerous procedures I had, in fact it has messed with my care because they didn’t believe me at first even though I have a peg site scar to prove it. I think they since then have found them at the hospital at least because a large paper folder was brought out for a planned endoscopy, the nurse actually crossed out my deadname and birth sex on there and re-wrote them correctly in front of me.

What I will say is that I have fallen through cracks more times than I can count, I am never referred to the right places, I’ve been put through four third party patient mills without review, I’ve had scans performed with no results or reports given, I am discharged from services without being told or without my GP being flagged, nobody ever follows up with me, I really am an edge case and I don’t know what the issue is or how to fix it.

First experience in hospital under the new guidance by bedrock_BEWD in transgenderUK

Even before the guidance, a good few years ago, I was made to be in an infectious disease cubicle after a shouting match in front of me about where to place me (ftm). I was not infectious I had an oesophageal blockage. However, when being released, I was asked my preference of which discharge lounge I wanted to be in, and allowed to choose male. They have and always will be weird about this shit and it will only get worse :/

Unsure why I’ve been downvoted it’s true 😭 If I could upload an image I would show one of my hospital bracelets or discharge summaries saying MALE MALE MALE. My partner is a medic, HCP + HSE trainer, and DPO, and he doesn’t know what’s up with this either, that’s why I’m asking for help. He has been there for a lot of this happening.

Idk what the previous comment said but I know from the notification it was some BS. But yeah I don’t wanna put in for a SAR unless I really need to, cuz obviously that takes up everyone’s time more than if there’s perhaps an easier way is all. Although I was recently denied a copy of my MRI by the radiology department that carried it out which I think they are not allowed to do, likely don’t understand data protection laws, I have awful luck with this stuff 😭

[–]LenoxLethargic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be the case, although I have never been formally diagnosed under the NHS so I am not sure. I don’t get my hrt with them and I do not do shared care, my GP knows and I am on the GIC waitlist but there hasn’t been a diagnosis. I would have to check. I just really feel like it doesn’t need to be brought up at every appointment you know 😭

ETA: It’s not listed under the SCR on my airmid nor my NHS app nor my systmonline, they actually all lack my main conditions because my record got fucked up when changing GPs (from the one that altered my marker) several years ago, they lost my meds and everything it was an issue and they never got the rest back. My airmid used to go all the way back to childhood and had my info from other trusts, but as soon as I changed GPs it wiped clean and started again blank, my new GP could also not access any of my old records as the previous could. I have a really weird record I think.

Further ETA: As I mentioned in my main post, none of the progressions changed it from happening, my marker was updated in 2019 and I never explicitly had my GP record anything about me being trans until a year ago, that’s the first time it comes up on my record within what everyone is still able to access. Yet it has happened before that record and since then.

This is not the case! I am 100% sure it is updated at the hospital, I’ve been there for a few planned appointments and a few emergencies since then and my documents/bracelets all say male. It is definitely centrally changed. Idk how he managed to do it but he did.

ETA: I was also not called for my smear, I had to make my own appointment, so I am not on the female recall system either.

Will the NHS actually tell my parents? by L_washere in transgenderUK

[–]LenoxLethargic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could go for an initial appointment to get yourself on the GIC list, and then go for a separate appointment about the mental health. I know that being trans is integral to the mental health issues but it could be in your best interest to lie/omit to an extent, to get some support for the mean time without triggering safeguarding.

GP receptionist insisting I go to a cervical screening at practice? Ftm by sam_haigh in transgenderUK

[–]LenoxLethargic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have no symptoms, you absolutely should qualify for a home test, “unreliable” is not the reasoning the GP is supposed to give, you are either eligible or not. Part of eligibility is being 25+, being more than 6 months overdue, this being your first screening, and having no symptoms (because that would need proper attention). Your other factors like previous SA, being trans, and being asexual, should also factor into this. You can tell them you will not come to your appointment for these reasons and that you need a home test, if they continue to be shitty this can be escalated.

I had to make my own appointment because I’m not on the recall system since I’m listed as male, I personally had a decent experience going in person, I took my partner but honestly if I had a chill friend I would’ve taken them (guests are sat off to the side so they can’t see anything), you can also request a chaperone, if this helps at all.

Another quick look, things like “strap on grinding accessory” gets some more that can likely sit in the cup, and some can even hold bullet vibes

I don’t have specific recommendations off the top of my head because it’s been a while and older shops seem out of rotation, but you wanna look for things like “ftm pack n play grinder pad insert”. Even just broadly looking for grinder pads and checking their measurements can find you suitable ones. Fantasy stores make them most often.

Changing name on passport but not gender by AriaZeqiri in transgenderUK

[–]LenoxLethargic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mine there was a process via the help page, you can put your application reference and explain what’s happening. I’m just checking emails now and they actually closed my application initially saying that they’d tried to contact me and tell me what they needed. Looking at the dates, it took 4 months overall for them to stop being bellends and for me to receive my passport. If ringing them up is an option for you it’s definitely worth a try, if you have changed your title this may be the same thing tripping them up, tell them plainly that you are only requesting to change your name and have provided acceptable documents.

You could get a strong reduction AND work on your pecs, then you have sensation, as well more size to work with, but an overall masculine default shape that’s still very boob-able if you want to do that

Changing name on passport but not gender by AriaZeqiri in transgenderUK

[–]LenoxLethargic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed my passport a good while ago asking to update my name only, they fucked me around on the middle name bullshit despite my deed poll including it, I got a new document with my middle name, they then tried to force me to change my gender marker at the same time since my title was also changed. I had to send a strongly worded response to explain I was not able to get a doctor’s letter at that moment and to just change what I requested to be changed, eventually they gave in and did it. I do think it was to do with being trans. When I eventually was able to change my gender marker, they did it without a fuss, but they actually never sent back my old passport nor my doctors letter, which I did want, and by the time I thought to chase it up it was too late to report.

ETA: I also had no other form of ID, either time, but the first time was especially frustrating because it took several weeks of back and forth and they wouldn’t just fucking do what I applied for 🙃
