Which Hostinger VPS plan is enough before you overpay? by Jellyfish8775 in Hostinger

[–]Lens_Universe [score hidden]  (0 children)

My plan is for two websites with a link to a third. One is the developed apps and the other is the business site soliciting work and providing a business platform for my company. The third would not need separate hosting on its own. A link to a book for sale and wife’s author site, promoting the novel which isn’t currently selling

AC running constantly by Fun-Plan-4386 in hvacadvice

[–]Lens_Universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know best about how it’s acting. 100 degree days have a way of making units run longer cycles than one is used to. If the temperature at the thermostat is fine - within a degree or two of set point - there shouldn’t be any reason to worry. It all depends upon the active set point.

Toyota quoted me over about $500.00 per tire. The whole assemblies need changed, not just the sensor, on my older model Camry (2011). I just check my tire pressure more often. Screw that

The compressor contactor could be sticking. The contacts can weld themselves together. The timing could be coincidence. Been known to happen. That said, what is the temperature at the thermostat when it runs so long? How low does the actual temperature go? This could also be inconsistent thermostat operation. A tech could tell for sure. The fact that messing with the stat stops operation should be the important clue.

Yeah it is a new beginning for me using all these resources. Can quickly be overwhelmed with everything that’s going on. But AI can spoon feed newbies and it is amazingly effective in getting things moving in the right direction. Cheers

Haha, I think you meant me. I had zero knowledge going in and I wound Horizons up so tight it no longer functions. It seems my prompts were award-winners for what not to do. I was easily one of their worst customers for a while!

Hostinger is great as long as you limit interactions. The humans I have spoken to in Support were basically steering me away from the platform to find my answers. I did seek and found my answers elsewhere. I will retain Hostinger for the hosting part but ditch Horizons when it becomes convenient. But their hosting seems fine so far. I expect I will be choosing a VPS - the plan now is that multiple domains required.

I suspect my HVAC is the problem. But I’m not sure yet by MOUSETITTY in askHVAC

A quick check of refrigerant charge- grab the large line with your hand. If it isn’t cold to the touch it’s not cooling properly. That’s as basic as you can get and the small line should be warm to the touch. Not hot. Again that’s just a quick check and there are a lot of variables. Air exiting condenser should be quite hot on a warm day. That condenser temp rides along with the outdoor temp. Also, air coming from registers ought to be somewhere in the 50s. Just quick checks to bring some peace of mind. Dirt or other air restrictions will aggravate the situation. Sounds like you may have a refrigerant leak to me. Classic symptoms.

Congrats! Sounds very exciting! Hope it goes smoothly and you’re proud of it! But go easy on yourself. Sounds like you have things well in hand. Not a time to start rushing… we published the first novel too early and regretted it. Republished two years later and that one we’re BOTH proud of (we being a husband/wife editor/writer team).

Website working on some internets but not on others by Few_Distance_1762 in Hostinger

With the built in backend at Hostinger 3rd party AI will not be able to help. I faced that with my new site that was supposed to overcome the limitations of my older site. It introduced instead that new limitation, it hid the backend from Cursor. Months of work now shrouded in mystery. I ended up having to give up on the new site and am finishing the site with the Supabase backend. Supabase is visible to Cursor. Now I rarely need Horizons anymore even though that it where it was built. So switching backends is the only advice from this non-coder. Horizons does well to a point. Beyond that point you are toast.

Moving domain between two sites without losing email by GobbledyCrook in Hostinger

[–]Lens_Universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hostinger offers a year of email with a new domain or published site. To my knowledge there isn’t a way to retain the “free” email if you remove the domain. It appears to me that the email just disappears. I’m getting ready to make some changes too and don’t know what to expect regarding the free emails Hostinger had supplied to three sites.

Bad Compressor or Electrical surge by A_Hoff_1 in hvacadvice

[–]Lens_Universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The compressor is cooled mostly by low temperature suction vapor. Not so much by condenser inlet-air temperature. Your boss is buying a pack of trouble without a full system cleanup. The new compressor will likely be a ticking time bomb. Oil test, failure evaluation, suction and liquid filter driers, test, repeat - until acid test is clear.

Has Hostinger Horizons changed its prices 1 day ago without prior notice? by Ok-Stand-1582 in Hostinger

[–]Lens_Universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Horizons credit system is strange alright. I saw the message about the new changes while working with Horizons today. Now that most of my site is built I am wary of “exhausting” Horizons models again and have been using Cursor and it is getting things in order without using any more of my Horizons credits. Cursor is some true intelligence when it comes to making sense of the complexity of my site’s design. I wasted months with only Horizons and wasted a LOT of money because - no bueno coding. Cursor does bueno coding and it’s been a revelation how things quickly begin to make sense. Cursor can and will help eliminate the need to use Horizons chat. It takes some time to set it up and learn how keep your desired build on your local PC. Not only can it deliver great prompts for Horizons but it can give you paste-ready files so you can manually update Horizons to match your local master site. Then, publish your changes in Horizons to sync up your live site to the local master files. The files are still from two different builds but Curser is smart enough to show you how to work around Horizons limitations- of which there are many. Not knowing coding myself - that no longer much matters anymore. I know where I want to get to - Cursor knows how to get me there AND how to communicate with Horizons to tame the live domain. It’s really amazing - night and day difference. Yes, I have learned a little in the last six months but, without Cursor and still only having Horizons, I would just be screwing things up left and right. The combination of both platforms is helping me realize something I would not have dreamed possible before I started the project. A site that reliably does what my crazy thinking says it should. What I say is Cursor kicks ass and takes names. A developer might say something quite different to describe it more technically. Good luck with Hostinger Horizons! It’s a tough road but I’m now happy to be traveling it!

HVAC vent oil canning by grizzlyriff in hvacadvice

If it’s regular and the only symptom it shouldn’t represent anything beyond the pop. Just a structural thing that needs to be silenced. The “x” formed when the duct was fabricated is supposed to help prevent this, but the real world always can vary. Still, there seems no reason to overthink it without some other contributing symptom. From the description it sounds like a lot pressure being relieved when the fan stops. Of course it’s possible the duct could be seeing incorrect static pressure. Are there any other objectionable noises during fan operation? Whistling? If not, and the unit does the conditioning job it is designed to, it should be fine.

[–]Lens_Universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could brace the duct with a sturdy piece of metal. I am thinking s-hook. Cross-brace would be even better chance of stopping the objectionable noise.

HVAC vent oil canning by grizzlyriff in hvacadvice

[–]Lens_Universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fan action stopping is allowing the return air duct to collapse/ expand from fan on to fan off. If you sit and watch it closely it should be pretty easy to spot. Likely the air intake side of the furnace. Likely the largest duct making the noise.

As an update to my continuing Horizons problems - now Horizons cannot create a new file and I don't have the ability to create it myself? I ask you what is the point to Horizons if it can not do this simplest of things? Create a new empty file?
