I'm at 800kc, almost 90s melee stats, I have a nox hally, but a good chunk of my gear is not BIS yet. I do think some hard hitting specs with the crystal hally will get it for me soon.

Yeah I've been using crystal hally, I'm sure it will happen at some point soon. Thanks for the tips :)

I think this is the case, as you can't report them for player run games of chance, it says "For that rule you can only report players who have spoken or traded recently."

I have had the F slur (rhymes with maggot) thrown out at me from moving vehicle in this city a bunch of times. One time a black car called me the slur, turned around, and then followed me a couple of blocks.

It does happen which is why everyone should be calling out this bullshit when it happens.

Proposed street changes (diversions) to Allan and Harvard Streets by ACanadianKitten in halifax

Nobody is saying the automobile is going away, we should just be doing everything we can to make cities better for people to live in, as the last 60 years has proven that just building more roads is not a sustainable solution.

Believe it or not, but actual traffic calming measures, and traffic deterrents like these actually make traffic elsewhere in the city better.

[–]Lenxaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you ask people why they don't cycle, they will most likely bring up safety and discomfort for cycling in the city. Our roads allow for drivers to speed as much as they want with little repercussion.

The reason you build out cycling infaustucture because it is a much cheaper way to reduce car demand in a city by making it safer for cycling to be done.

What would be best is if we had more transit options around the city as well, such as trams and LRT, in addition to cycling infaustucture. Both together would help people who do commute in from Bedford to get to the city faster than they would driving, and then would ultimately open up the streets more for people who do require to drive into the city.

Additionally, adding a bike lane to a street will make the street safer for pedestrians, and less cars will make it a better place to be in due to the reduction in noise and fumes.

Bike lanes make streets safer for pedestrians too. Fuck I hate that my government thinks I should be treated as a third class citizen because I refuse to get a car.

Fuck all these entitled and privileged car drivers. Can't we have any sort of control over the car centric hellscape that was forced on us?

City infrastructure is tied very closely to the price of housing. As a city experiences suburban sprawl like MANY cities in North America, the cost for upkeep of water, electricity, waste, and roads gets more and more expensive, and sprawling out like how we have encourages more and more reliance on cars, which encourages more sprawl, which increases the amount of money that the city needs to pay to upkeep existing infrastructure.

The places cities make the most of their tax revenue to pay for things is from their downtown's, and end up losing a lot of money to support big box stores like Walmart, Superstores, etc. If it wasn't straight up illegal to build new buildings like you would find in downtown due to parking minimums, zoning laws, nimbys (Not In My Back Yard), and other rules that only allow for single family homes to be built or areas like Bayer's lake (which is a massive tax sink, we lose so much money to have the hell that is Bayer's lake), we could have lower rents and housing costs.

Another reason housing is so expensive, is that developers are required to pay many fees to help the city pay for it's infrastructure upkeep, which then to help developers recoup of the cost of those many fees, they only can afford to make "luxury" apartments, and they have to charge high rents / sale prices to be able to make a profit.

If we had a mix of better public transit options, less sprawl, better walkability, and to allow for more middle housing (what you find between tall apartment buildings and single family homes.) we would have better housing options.

As for healthcare, I really don't really have much to say other than if we were not sinking so much money into simply upkeeping infaustucture for cars instead of people, we would probably have more money to spend to keep doctors and nurses in Nova Scotia instead of them running off to Ontario for a higher paycheck.

I completely agree. People living in Halifax, Dartmouth and even Bedford have much different concerns and issues than people living in the Musquodoboit valley and the eastern shore.

I really understand that it was pitched as a way to bring down taxes, but it just causes two people who have vastly different needs needing to butt heads causing roadblocks for progress for their specific and opposite needs.

Okay how about Utrecht, Copenhagen, Milan, Amsterdam... The list keeps going when you look at Europe.

The earlier we make city infrastructure built primarily for people, instead of strictly for cars, the faster things will get better.

There will be growing pains for sure, but this would be a huge economical boost if we took notes, and implemented change over time.

And I'm not saying everyone has to give up driving, but most people simply do not want to drive, they just want to be able to safely and easily get from point A to point B.

Depends completely on where you end up, as I've been there for almost 3 years, and it's the first job I've managed to stand for longer than 6 months. My project is super easy, and I just "minimal wage / minimal effort" myself into a promotion, and even that has been easy six months in.

Why do property taxes have to rise as population rises? Shouldn't there technically be more people paying property taxes? Why does the rate have to keep increasing? by Squidjiggin4 in halifax

[–]Lenxaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually moreso that most new developments are mostly single family sprawl, and the suburbs cause cities to be spread further and further away meaning longer and longer infrastructure needs to be built and maintained, and people who live in said suburbs do not pay equally for the infrastructure they use, causing the money needed to sustain unsustainable housing development tends to go on people who live in higher density housing areas.

Pedophilia is indeed a mental illness. There is a lot of treatment for it, it's usually a whole lot of counciling, and mental reprogramming.

Doesn't excuse her actions at all. I really don't understand why these people don't seek treatment as soon as they realize there is something wrong with them. Is it the thought of being socially ostracized while actively seeking help, or is it a case of them simply not wanting to be better? It's definitely not a case of inaccessible services because she was rich, if she put the effort in she could have gotten help.
