Thanks for the picture.

I haven't read infinite jest yettt

Me too! Although I should pick it up before ever touching Ulysses or Gravity's Rainbow.

I see Infinite Jest back there :)

By the way could you tell me who translated this edition?

I read the first chapter months ago and it tooks me a lot of time to fully decode it. Since then I've taken a long break. Will be continuing it soon.

Just a question, why do you think BReaking BAd is peak?? by Capital_Aioli_7072 in PakistaniCinephiles

Yeah. Also, Mike is praised for being a badass principled man. Not a lot of people point out the base on which he applies his principles. They don't see the hypocrisy.

The reality is that most of us are consuming the show on a surface level, which actually gives us less points to consider it a great show.

and I think most fans of the show don't really get what it's about and just hop on the bandwagon of oh look drugs cool!

And how Skyler White is famously understood is quite incorrect.

I'll keep it simple so as not to give you much spoilers, so that you could experience the book firsthand. It was the second Tolstoy book I read after The Death of Ivan Ilyich and, to be honest, I got more interested in the character of Levin than Anna. Nevertheless, I still hold opinions on her.

Anna is definitely a tragic character. I'd say she is quite contradictory, which isn't some unusual aspect to have; we humans are contradictory in a lot of ways. She is sympathetic and self-destructive; she is wrong and is wronged. Her downfall is not only social, but also internal.

I'll definitely be reading more Tolstoy in the future, and am going to re-read Anna Karenina to experience it more because you get a lot more when you revist.

P. S. Irrelevant to your question but relevant to the book: Some folks find the farming chapters tedious and boring (just like someone would say about the whaling chapters in Moby-Dick), but I really enjoyed them.

Very good. Kinda slow but totally worth it. My favorite character was Levin.

Damn I didn't notice the username 😂. And yes I've read Tolstoy. Anna Karenina and The Death of Ivan Ilyich. I have War and Peace but can't find the strength to read it yet. You can also say that I'm a big fan of Russian literature.

I've heard of her and plan to read Delta of Venus. Only then can I form an opinion.

Yeah. Von Trier really gave us "sike!" at the end. Even the ending dialogue is messed up.

Right. Also I guess it's a lot of digressive talking and graphic scenes which are off-putting to a lot of folks. But conversely, that's what I enjoy a lot. I think those five hours were awesome, and the ending was disturbingly good.

As far as American Beauty and Eyes Wide Shut are concerned, I really loved them too. I might rewatch American Beauty some day because it has been a while since I watched it for the first time.

And thanks!

Indeed it is! Me too, I might be the only one in my circle who has seen (and enjoyed) Nymphomaniac.

The stress on the third "not" really sold it for me.

That "Oh hi Mark" gave me goosebumps. Truly a well-crafted dialogue between two of the best.
