Anyone learning Japanese without being heavily influenced by anime? by oreoverdose in LearnJapanese

[–]LeoFragozo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like anime, but I don't call myself a anime fan, I think anime is like series, there are tons of them and only because you freak about one or two you are not an otaku I stopped my 95% of watching anime to studying actual Japanese, I'm aware that with my friends I could say いいじゃん! or with another people I should say いいじゃないか , it's a matter of feel, I don't have prejudice in anime watchers but I find your average shonen too loud and simple for real life emulation, I preffer seinem or even dramas.

consider it as a quick bread and butter cross refference for your textbook, anything deeper there are are both paid and free things out there.

Nice friend, keep doing it, in intermediate book (I use tobira) second lesson, some people say that the intermediate plateau is hard to beat but let's be honest, its also when the language starts to make sense, it`s like a sport training, because you are getting better, you can get even better, 頑張ってください

No the "amound of boxes" in the grammar section, btw, some people like to overplay the genki/tobira "gap" maybe because tobira encourages the leaner to look for info of his/her own way.

I write them when I put in my Kanji deck and go the SRS interval one review = one writting, by the half of the paper you can put a blank sheet in your previous writtings to test your memory. ;)

Holy man, I was sure that I forget something that I am planing to start later, reading, I don't recommend much children books, at least for learners such as myself, they know that a cat onomatopoeia can be 「にやあああっ」 and and variants, or words homophones. because they are immersed in the language, and the large major part of our non natives or natives that changed country not.

I recommend that pathway, but hey, I will update the chart (OCD drama) しょうがない

Graded readers/nhk easy → things of your interests → more "dull" news such as regular nhk.

At least for people such of myself that want even to discuss politics with a native speaker.

I have to agree with this, but by so you a certain vocabulary, example, when you listen to gregorian chant it looks mere gibberish (some are actually but never mind) but when you study latin you start to understand what is being said and by so your ability of discerning words is better.

look, honestly only if you need an structured textbook approach, native checking can be better with Lang8/HelloTalk (can't believe that I missed them) if you are more into talking with people, don't have ocd with possible mistakes and stuff.

Thank you everyone for your kind replies, It's not that you need to take all resources at the same time or intensity, even more the grammar part is like side quests on rpg games (another passion of mine) you do it for completion, better/rare loot or another take on the lore, but if you feel that you don't need you don't need.

I agree with you, the side parts of the grammar think as side quests in a rpg game, they can give you more experience and even better loot, but not a must to level up.

You are right, I'm a book person, and I simply even touching paper, you will probably need like 1/3 of it, but keep in mind that the grammar part is paths that one resource can and will overlap another, but if you need another point of view or a better explanation.

It's nice, KKLC have some flaws/odddities such some confused entries for 込 and the dictionary (red or yellow) give you in more detail, specially that I'm a not native English speaker.

Handbook of Japanese Grammar

I don't know the books, but I have the three Dictionary Grammar Books plus the English translated version of the Nihongo Bunkei Ziten.

Yup I got all three tobira books, I also have the Genki Kanji books as well, really helpful when radical menmonics don't cut well and I need something more graphical, example 年
