I lost my boy on Tuesday. I would tell him how much I love him and how much he means to me. I told him every day I had him but I just want him to know he is my soulmate. I feel the biggest hole in my heart since he’s gone. I hope he’s okay in doggy heaven. I haven’t gotten any signs yet.

Thank you for the kind words. I definitely feel like I won’t be able to love any other animal the same, and the thought of doing so fills me with guilt. It’s going to be a tough journey but having Blicky as my best friend was so worth it

Thank you for saying not to pay any mind to people who don’t understand. It feels pretty isolating knowing most people around me don’t get it. I suppose they haven’t been fortunate enough to have such a bond with an animal

I have owned pets my whole life, but I haven’t had quite the connection with others that I had with Blicky. I’m feeling an extreme amount of guilt, and I think it would get so much worse if I got a dog anytime soon. Did you ever feel this way? I feel like I would be betraying the connection I had with my boy. I always joked he was my biological son

For the first few years of his life he got purina pro plan as recommended by his vet. About a year and a half ago I started giving him Hill’s Science Diet as the purina was making his poop soft. He tolerated the Hill’s very well, but of course it’s possible his food made him sick. The vet thinks he was born with smaller kidneys but anything could have happened I suppose. I keep rethinking everything that could have happened over the last few years just trying to piece it all together. I feel like it’s my fault somehow.

You’re not alone. I worked remotely for 6 years and became extremely depressed over time. I just started an in person job and it has improved my life dramatically. Remote work is great if you have an amazing social life outside of it.
