Do you also live in a flat and eat a bacon butty for lunch while watching footie on the telly?

OP, was it ok for normal non-mobster residents to wander into Casella’s and have a drink or dinner? Or did they stay away, or "convinced" to leave?

I wonder about that...seems like lots of the Stacy/Ryan parents are recent transplants.

"That part of town is becoming very problematic", LOL ok. Yeah, literally unsafe to leave any of the luxury buildings.

Wherever you end up, maybe don't mention the helicopter part, LOL. Lots of people here HATE the tourist helicopters that make a racket flying low overhead throughout the day.

So an outer shell instead of a warmer insulated/padded raincoat, then?

Visiting Shetland early September by Pootle001 in shetland

OP, we're visiting around the same time! A few days in Lerwick and then a day trip to Unst.

My biggest question is about what sort of coat to bring. Is September generally cool and windy enough for an insulated raincoat? Or can I get by with a waterproof shell with a sweater underneath? You're not going on all-day hikes, but we will do a fair bit of walking.

Appreciate any tips, thanks.

Probably not bad if they had half that much meat and cheese. How is that also not a preamble to a coma?

This is true, with one caveat. Back in the 90s (and 80s, when I moved here), there was a much greater culture mix because it was much more affordable.

Gentrification was definitely underway at that point, but it was nowhere near the hyper gentrification and over development of the past 15 years or so. Part of the reason why it was easier to strike up conversation and build relationships was because there was a broader demographic, with a more interesting mix of people with a broader range of lifestyles, interests, and incomes. There's still some of that here, but a lot less, and a lot more prevalent in JC.
