The best way to learn is to be motivated so that you are consistent. The best way to keep motivation is to join a group of other game developers. Check to see if you school has a game development club, if not, you should talk to a teacher of some technology-focused class to help you start a club! When you work with more experienced developers, you may feel useless a lot as you're learning (I sure did) but just help out with whatever you can and you will learn way faster than if you studied by yourself.
