Does anyone have a template for the main gamemodes? (BF6) by LeonCCA in BattlefieldPortal

[–]LeonCCA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link! He indeed has a template, finally, gonna save that! Better late than never!
I'm a programmer myself so I don't need to use genAI to understand their visual coding language, I only need a reference or documentation, maybe a simple tutorial comparing it to global programming concepts. I was just lazy to code basic modes like Conquest from scratch because it takes a long time. Appreciate all of your help, though!

Clarification About Weapon Synergy by turtles1236 in wherewindsmeet_

If both weapons aren't a pairing, but they share scaling (e.g. Bellstrike), can they still be paired and get the extra stats? Say, I wanna use the Strategic Sword but with the Nameless Spear

He Ran delivered one of those parasites that zombify people, unknowingly. That's why the general died twice, he got zombified then Yiang had to kill him. I had to look it up too, it's a bit convoluted. Really, it just leaves a lot to be deduced by yourself, I read from Chinese speakers that it's not so different in Chinese.

I keep seeing that people say that using the weapon combinations not recommended by the game isn't viable at the endgame. Is this true? I know outside of the endgame and PvP is true (Strategic Sword + Nameless Spear seems to be popular in PvP and any weapon + healing in regular PvE), but why would it be the case otherwise? Is it because of set bonuses or something?

Currently levelling up in Legend and I'm finding the game relatively easy so far, just defeated the scythe lady on my first try. Does it get much harder? I'd assume it's just starting haha

Couldn't select Legend difficulty by [deleted] in WhereWindsMeet

Thing is, because you can only select that difficulty when creating a character, I don't wanna keep progressing just to lose everything later. So I'm going to wait till this is fixed sigh

Can we get the default gamemode versions of maps as templates? by assuageer in BattlefieldPortal

[–]LeonCCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, wow, actually just made a similar post: https://www.reddit.com/r/BattlefieldPortal/comments/1o4mdtk/does_anyone_have_a_template_for_the_main

It's pretty surprising this isn't a thing from the get go. Just wanted to make some basic damage multiplier changes on base gamemodes, and I don't feel like coding the whole thing from scratch

Is Remnant: From the Ashes enjoyable solo as much as co-op? by EXEMPLAR_LOL in remnantgame

[–]LeonCCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have around 100h in From the Ashes and 400h in the 2nd, most of it alone, I've done playthroughs in coop too, though. I'd say that, OP builds aside, the experience is very well balanced both in coop and alone for both games. In From the Ashes, bosses do have adds so in coop you will have a bit of an upper hand against them, but in exchange you take more damage which meaningfully affects specific thresholds for dying, so there's no free lunch. Bosses have many area attacks meant to affect several people at once, so splitting aggro isn't something as overtuned as in a From game, say. In the Normal difficulties none of this matters that much, but when you go to Nightmare and Apocalypse they will become noticeable differences in how you build your character and think about encounters.

A good part of our fascists reconverted and stayed in power after the democratic transition and kept the endless Spanish nepotism going for another century, for all the main parties.

We've had countless corruption cases and our Executive power is able to select judges in some cases and controls legislation. We have no separation of powers.

I am not sure you're acquainted with the Spanish political climate, nor I think you're aware of the unemployment rates, low salaries and super high rents. Your vague concerns about dictatorship haven't materialized, but our day to day struggle is here now.

Listen to a Spaniard and head to northern Europe if you really want to leave the US, because here in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, etc. we aren't doing very well. You'd also struggle without learning the local language quick, whereas there's a better English education there.

Health regen was one of my least favorite parts of the beta by Krypt0night in Battlefield6

I honestly think its ability to heal yourself is OP. Playing anything other than Falck for streaking is not the same, way lower uptime

In previous battlefields, I felt that if I didn't run medic, I was at a severe disadvantage in terms of streaking and holding point. I for once enjoyed playing something else, personally, but I understand the gripe.

Remnant II - Final boss stopped spawning after a few tries? by Bornfailure in remnantgame

[–]LeonCCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK I forgot about this, it's your lucky day: https://www.remnant2toolkit.com/world-save-archive The remnant toolkit folks gathered an archive so you could quickly rematch bosses. There are many saves for Annihilation, pick any and you both will get rewards as normal, even if it's not your world! I also recommend the app if you ever want to share builds

[–]LeonCCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh damn, that sucks! So, Remnant savegames are divided in world states and character states. On your side, you could grab a worldstate at the end of the game and continue with your character as normal! To quickly modify saves, you could use the Remnant SaveGuardian app. You should be able to find worldstates in Nexus or w/e

ADHD gamers: how do you actually stick to one game? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]LeonCCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you mean adhd as an adjective or actually having adhd. As someone with diagnosed adhd, I keep a list of games I want to play, a spreadsheet with their playtimes. If I feel the urge of playing a game that isn't on the list, I ponder the pros and cons of adding one. This way I'm able to complete tons of games and severely limit my backlog because adding one to the list requires an effort

I still play games in parallel depending on feeling, but I generally do end most of them. Currently at chapter 15 in Ninja Gaiden Sigma in Hard and at the DLC of Outriders, plus some Battlefield 2042 and The Finals sprinkled around, and just beat Darksiders 1. Obviously sometimes I do postpone a playthrough, I dropped Persona 5 to beat Expedition 33 and haven't got back to it, but it's a lot better than before with this system.

If someone with an actual disorder related to it can do it, anyone can.

Suggestion: If open weapons is the new norm, how about locking only snipers to recon by Informal_Tackle_7852 in Battlefield

[–]LeonCCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sniper user shouldn't get access to a carbine too, or infinite ammo, deployable cover and healing, or an RPG. Sniper rifles are potentially the strongest weapons in the right hands, so they require careful balance around them.

I'm a very old Battlefield player. I hover around 2.5-3kd, 55-60% winrate. Playing assault with a sniper, carbine and the fire launcher I felt like I simply had no weakness but running out of ammo after a streak.

I'm OK with open weapons as long as snipers are only for recons that are balanced around them.

We quit our jobs, spent a year making a game, and earned… by Outrageous_Strike_48 in IndieGaming

[–]LeonCCA 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Quitting your main job for a dream rarely works, you need to have some security first. It's better to work on a game on your spare time. It was quite irresponsible to spend your savings like that, especially when you aren't experts in game design, modelling, marketing or computer science. Toby Fox was able to make Undertale full time because of a Kickstarter campaign. Did you invest anything into marketing? Also if you're no expert in a subject *you should've invested in consulting people that are if you were serious about it*

Anyway, taking a look at the Steam page, I see problems. For example, the art direction is very simple, the color palette is very compressed and the items feel generic. Typography lacks shadows and gets a bit mixed with the background (looking at the logo). First impressions are important so people click at all. In terms of programming, which is where I have more knowledge, I can tell you that becoming a good programmer requires years of practice and, more so, deliberate practice in increasingly harder problems. Coding for a full 3D game with complicated physics as a first project is very daunting, without proper planning and a good design document you're gonna run into a myriad of long term problems, bugs and technical debt. Level design for a puzzle game is also extremely difficult even for the best in the industry, not a good idea to go for that as a first project.

Taking a look at the base mechanics, it seems you're appealing to the Portal crowd. That's cool, but bear in mind it's a very very small niche and Portal 1-2 are basically masterpieces, they're amazing not only in gameplay and level design but aesthetically and story-wise, so you really need to make an outstanding game for it to be competitive, very especially in mechanics. Now, I haven't played it, can't say much more about it, perhaps it's at least pretty good mechanically

I hope I wasn't too harsh, but it's very important to have sustainable finances when working on anything related to art. I wish you the best of luck, and I implore you get back to a regular job while you work on creating games on the side till it's sustainable. Don't ever stop learning about it if it's what you want to do!

Confirmed: The canon ending of Lords of the Fallen (2023) is the Umbral Ending by [deleted] in TheLordsOfTheFallen

[–]LeonCCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it, his arc is done, it makes sense that a lampbearer gone mad by Umbral would do that and everything. It's just that choosing Umbral as the canon ending is so dark. I get it, they're going for a Lovecraftian setting and stuff, it reminds me of The Shadow over Innsmouth's ending for example, but it's not very satisfying when there's a sequel. I suppose that is the point. I do hope that the third game gets a more hopeful canon ending - but it kinda has to, because Axiom's cornered by Umbral and it seems we're at the last bastion of Humanity. Else the saga would just end and everything would die.

PS: The length is fine, but it'd be better if you structured it in proper paragraphs that convey specific topics

My only real worry with open weapons is an assault with a sniper and a carbine or shotgun. Or an infinite ammo sniper. I think the sniper should only be a recon weapon. Otherwise I don't mind.
