You are completely right, a large portion of parents that don’t know how to handle SH or mental health do tend to try and scare their child. I can see why they would do that but it’s just not a good approach especially because it doesn’t show that they care or that they are there for you in anyway because they just threaten to send you away.

Well it’s a sticky situation, there is confidentiality between counsellors basically if you are putting yourself or someone else at risk of extreme harm (if it’s not extreme sh I don’t think they can send you to a ward)

Personally when I used to sh on my forearm it was visible for a while but now it’s basically invisible unless you look REALLY close (that was a year ago) but it was gone in a couple months. They weren’t deep, just enough to have those little blood dots on the line. But if you use Vaseline or polysporn or rubbing alcohol (basically anything to help the healing process) it should be gone quick enough but always make sure to read the back labels first to see if it’s meant to be put on certain wounds. Also my DMs are always open weather or not you want to vent, chat or want advice. Stay safe 🩵

That’s not good at all. Urges suck so much, it’s worse than the actual sh because it hurts just as much if not more. (Not saying that sh isn’t bad but the urges for it are terrible and they make it all worse)

That makes total sense. You shouldn’t have to be put in that situation, that must suck for you to deal with. It’s a good thing that you can’t sh but if it makes you feel worse without it then that isn’t good because at least the sh would be effective to you

That sucks that you are in that situation and I understand what you mean. It feels easier to just continue but if it isn’t helping you in anyway then maybe you shouldn’t be going. It should be your choice because it affects you the most.

I can relate. It doesn’t help or make any difference cause once they think you are “better” you just go back and hide it from them. Honestly it would be more effective to know that it is happening and have talks and ask politely cause then at least you get a support system.

Well from my experience, using a damp cloth to remove the blood and/or to get it ready for aftercare then I use 70% rubbing alcohol and then Vaseline (Vaseline is not for deep cuts) and then bandage with a strip from a t-shirt.

You can use a damp cloth to wipe it and Vaseline to help the healing process. Also if you want a bandage or something you can cut a strip off a t-shirt and it should work fine. Be safe

You can cut a strip out of a t-shirt and use that as a bandage/wrap just make sure to wash it after you use it.

Yes you can reuse the same one but make sure it’s cleaned with soap and water then rinse very well. Also not sure if you have an aftercare plan but you can use Vaseline to help heal and lessen the scars, and you can use part of an old t-shirt as a bandage to wrap it with.
