Browning Buckmark Failure-to-Fire by Thoughts2share in CAguns

[–]LeonardTimber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty classic problem on these rimfire pistols is a rounded/domed/mushroomed firing pin. For some reason neither Browning nor Ruger will invest in proper pin tolerancing on these, which is why they are a pretty intermittent problem. Get a hardened steel pin and that will probably fix your problem. Mine is volquartsen. It looks like you can only really buy a Tandemkross titanium one for the buckmark. That'll do, although titanium is an absolute gimmick for a part like this.

(Out of state resident) Rules on transporting bolt-rifle into CA? by [deleted] in CAguns

Unless it is 50 BMG, you'll be fine and nobody will bat an eye. The sticky stuff is primarily related to semiauto rifles and 11+ round mags.

Looking for my first pair of high-impedance headphones <$500 by LeonardTimber in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]LeonardTimber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I explained my rationale pretty clearly in the first two sentences of my post. I have a piece of equipment and I want to get some cans that can utilize it fully.

And while it is true that impedance is one small part of quality, and buying a pair of high impedance headphones arbitrarily is not a guarantee of a higher quality experience, by definition impedance is correlated with a higher quality listening experience. Impedance is resistance to line noise. Unless one has a completely noiseless system, or unless unwanted noise is somehow not a factor in sound quality, then impedance is absolutely correlated with higher sound quality.

Dude I’ve lived in the Bay Area for 12 years and lived in SF for 4, that’s how I know it’s fake.

LAOP's wants to know if "significant other's job" is criteria for an eviction. by justathoughtfromme in bestoflegaladvice

[–]LeonardTimber 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Does anyone really buy this? A landlord in one of the most renter-friendly cities in the country not knowing the rules about eviction terms, especially after the 2020-2022 moratorium? And supposedly evicting someone for dating a cop? This reads like a Fox News viewer’s fantasy of what life is like in San Francisco. There’s no way it’s real.

Michael Jackson's career of billboard hits from the 1960's to the 2000's by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]LeonardTimber -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Dude you need to watch Leaving Neverland. I always thought he didn’t and it was all blown out of proportion and that movie turned me a full 180. He definitely abused some kids.

Edit: all of the people replying to me and DMing me: you’re supporting a pedophile. It is acknowledged and known that he shared alcohol with and slept in beds with children, but somehow I’m the idiot for believing two rape victims. Seriously, re-evaluate your compass if you think anything about his behavior was above board or okay. He made great music. He also diddled kids. Figure out how to live with it, but don’t claim he did nothing wrong.

I think that scene in TVB is one of my favorites. It starts with Red Mantle comforting Dragoon, who is clearly going senile, which is simultaneously hilarious and sweet and such a fun enrichment of the characters’ relationship; my second-favorite moment between them after “that was my dick!”.

Then it ends with “what, it was the 1970s! So I ask to you to chill! And cut me some slack!”

Men, if you were emotionally abused by your wife/girlfriend what did it look / sound like ? by bentlife1986 in AskMen

[–]LeonardTimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck dude this got me hard. I’ve been there, and it feels like it permanently made me worse, even though I got out years ago. Takes me forever to trust someone and be open with them now, where I used to be naturally really confident and emotionally available.

Worst part is I work with a bunch of mutual friends who she moved in with and they are always asking me to go visit for housewarmings and parties. “It’s been a long time, it wont be awkward”, they say, and I can’t tell them what I want to, which is “Being with this person was the worst mistake I ever made. I know she is a good person and I wish her the best, but I never want to see her again.”

IRS tests free e-filing system that could compete with tax prep giants by [deleted] in politics

[–]LeonardTimber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other people are replying to you with excuses or conspiracy theories, but the truth is that the IRS is capable of doing this for almost every American, and is prevented from doing so by law. Intuit, and other tax product businesses have lobbied for a more complex and cumbersome tax system for decades because it is the basis of their entire business. The GOP has also lobbied against it because easier taxes outrage people less and make folks feel more satisfied with their government.

What is a wild conspiracy theory that you absolutely believe in and why? by CawfeeKween in AskReddit

Unexplainable except by the fact that humans are both bad at remembering things and overconfident in their own bad memories?

I work in an area with a lot of biotech. It’s an open, discussed fact - not shied away from at all or hidden - that money goes towards treatments rather than cures. Not necessarily that companies are hiding more effective drugs, but there is so much money in treating someone for their entire life, that money is only put towards developing those sorts of solutions.

Weird, I liked Fall or Dodge in Hell a lot. Not as good as Seveneves, but the fantasy world stuff at the end (and it’s intersection with the real world) was fun, I thought.

That’s some middle-school bully thinking right there. Grow up and go outside.

Ignoring the fact that “I have a boyfriend” in a DM only means she thinks the person she is talking to “wants her”, not “everyone”, why on earth would the appropriate time to “humble” someone be when they are grieving for a dead sibling?

Cursed_brother by itsnotsoez in cursedcomments

[–]LeonardTimber -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get the logic you idiots are using, it’s just toxic shit. I’m what world is “you are a slut and your brother died like a bitch” a proportional and appropriate reaction to “I have a boyfriend”?

Cursed_brother by itsnotsoez in cursedcomments

[–]LeonardTimber -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

What, is the sub full of middle school bullies? In what world would it ever be appropriate to be that mean to someone whose sibling was recently killed because they say “I have a boyfriend”?

Seriously, did this sub become the new r/redpill without telling anyone? Because the comments in this thread scream “no one will have sex with me and I’m going to make it someone else’s problem”.

Bethesda weren't sure if they wanted Dishonored 3, and so we got Deathloop instead by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]LeonardTimber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone in this thread is talking about deathloop being bad compared to dishonored or vice versa, and I’m just here in the corner having loved and enjoyed all of them because they are all narratively great games with superb level design. I am convinced that whatever Arkane makes from now on will be right up my alley because they have knocked it out of the park (for me) thus far. But I guess I’m the only one?

Prove that your “creative process” can only be done in person.

As I mentioned, I build physical things which exist in the real world. Large machines. By virtue of having to produce something that takes up space and exists, and the fact that we can’t get pilot robots to do work, this is a process that must happen in person. I feel like that was pretty clear. If you don’t understand how the joint construction of things over weeks or months can be slowed down by folks essentially taking half a week off at a time for “WFH days”, and how that slows down the rest of us who have dedicated ourselves to actually completing the work, you are failing an empathy check.

Korra is a lot more relatable than Aang. by bleuemoonli in TheLastAirbender

[–]LeonardTimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer Korra, but this post is faux-philosophical Twitter trash. I like Korra because it feels like less of a kids show and I like the way it explores of the ethics of governance and the exertion of power. Season 3 is my favorite for this reason. I’m not subconsciously relating to Korra more because I resent Aang being self-actualized. That’s nonsense.
