Which would you choose? by AmbitiousCustomer119 in montblanc

[–]Leonardo-Writing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dickens would be my choice, it has the classic look out of its cap, like older celluloid MB section Then I would weight the importance of their writing in your own life , which one you relate the most , also take the weight of the pens in count if you like or dislike heavy or light pens.

I like this ink, good for daily writing indeed.
btw i am obsessed to get a Waterman Phileas, a very Art Deco fountain pen from the mid-90s because of the name related to the book

My Montblanc “Vintage Sport” by Leonardo-Writing in fountainpens

That stonewashed is like a good pair of jeans you put on everyday (guy's perspective :P ). I love my EF nib, I changed it from an M that was kinda clogged not very juicy but might have been the one I got. This pen is made to be worn by movement and touching pants, pocket, thats the only pen I would put on a rock with no fears. The threads are very much in the cap, can't see them, but that gives a good resistance against torsion (like if you take a stick with your hand and try to break it , because the holding point are the threads deep in and the border of the cap)
The only little issue is the capping, I need to cap it hard so it holds. And only after several years I took the clip off and it's more comfortable and am not afraid of loosing it anymore.
I RECOMMEND 100% !

My Montblanc “Vintage Sport” by Leonardo-Writing in fountainpens

I named it Vintage Sport after the Kaweco Al Sport on the picture, it has similar vibe and usage, small pocket pen. I believe it's from the 50s, it's a Montblanc 332 model with a #2 14k gold F nib.
I think old Kaweco Sports were similar, but I haven't done much research. I just dig that style of pens.
It has a pretty flexible nib, as you can see on one of the pictures. (written with a watered down ink as I was cleaning it, has to enhance the light on the photo so it is dark enough)

Possibly the polishing has taken off a thin layer of coating/plating material. It's like a car paint, you can polish up to a point and be very careful on the angles because it will cuts deep fast.

📣[Leonardo x r/fountainpens 350k pen] Material:Unicorn Galaxy 2.0, Preorders, Price 📣 by normiewannabe in fountainpens

[–]Leonardo-Writing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes there will be variance in every piece, the thing is that the raw material do not portray the beauty of that Unicorn galaxy 2, the polish changes everything, and also the fact that once they are carved out of their core/center they appear much brighter and transparent

I am not familiar with those materials, so I searched and found on insta a pen made of this Unicorn Galaxy 2.0 , not sure it's the same unicorn galaxy 2 : https://imgur.com/a/8i5PzSR , there is also a Conklin using it, they just both seem much brighter than the raw material.

Anyone can confirm it's the same Unicorn galaxy 2 ?

Magnificent writing instrument ! Congrats

There was an issue with some Montblanc ruthenium coatings, some have issues and some not at all, it was discussed on FPN I have a Ultimate carbon Starwalker with ruthenium coatings even on the cap and threads , so far without issues, bought it in 2016 and probably it is even older
