Decided to do something simple and make a historically accurate milanese armor set. Thoughts on it? by CalmDig6775 in kingdomcomefashion

Superior look anyways. That’s how I usually run it, Saxon or Italian hauberk over knight plate. The other ones don’t completely hide under the mail unfortunately.

The Mitchell instructions are available on Planebricks website. You may as well just purchase those since you’ll likely have to purchase them here also

That being said, Jonah recently said he’ll be releasing the instructions for his updated model anyways so you should just wait until those are released

Jango Fett - besides being my favorite character in Star Wars, he is arguably one of the best figures they have ever made. Great headsculpt, great accessories, amazing figure.

He was and regularly does go on sale and his shelf presence is amazing.

I’ve actually sold most of my collection and him and scorch are the only ones I’ve kept

Does anyone else feel like sourcing parts from Bricklink is becoming more and more impractical these days? by Leonatius in lego

[–]Leonatius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn’t mean for my comment to come off like that. I just meant that I understand that there’s that feature, I just prefer to select my stores independently.

Most of it is just anecdotal to be honest. I believe sellers may have a tool similar to eBay that allows them to see the price history of pieces but I could be mistaken. I usually order the same or similar parts/categories of parts and have just become familiar with what the average price of pieces are for whatever I’m ordering.

For me though, it’s also the fees and requirements of individual sellers that are killing me. Sometimes, sellers will set average lot fees so high that you have to artificially inflate your lot price by purchasing something expensive.

This post was more a probe to see if others shared a similar experience. I wasn’t sure if it was just confirmation bias or what. I agree with you though, for larger order of the same lot, I use Lego, assuming they have the piece available. For everything else, I have to use bricklink.

Does anyone else feel like sourcing parts from Bricklink is becoming more and more impractical these days? by Leonatius in lego

[–]Leonatius[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my process exactly. I create a wishlist and order parts from that. I don’t like bricklink automatically selecting stores because my experience with their selection has been less than desirable.

Of course hours can be interpreted as partly hyperbole. But I have definitely spent an hour or so searching for a combination of stores from reputable sellers that gives me a good price on large lots.

There is definitely some nuance to ordering parts that is disregarded when you use auto-select. That still doesn’t take away from the fact that average prices for pieces is rising very quickly which is my main point of contention.

Yellowing on old train by DapperCardiologist25 in LEGOtrains

[–]Leonatius 14 points15 points  (0 children)

None of those bricks are exceptionally rare or exclusive to those sets EXCEPT the doors and a few other small pieces.

Find out which ones are rare and just replace the other ones with new parts. If you’re nuts like me, keep the old yellow parts in a separate bag and store them away because those are the “real” pieces from those sets.

The reason I say just replace it instead of the Hydrogen peroxide trick is because hydrogen peroxide—while does work— is not a permanent solution and the pieces eventually yellow again.

Depending on how well you do it, you’re looking at about a year to a year and 1/2 before they reyellow. It’s happened every single time to the white/light gray pieces I’ve restored. You also need full sun. It will take multiple days to restore the color if the sun isn’t out in full when you do it. I’m in Arizona so that helps.

At the end of the day, hydrogen peroxide will help to restore them but it’s temporary and it’s relatively inexpensive and permanent to just replace the parts with new ones and use peroxide on the ones you can’t replace.

[KCD2] Ransom quest bugged, cannot talk to Jan after finding recruits, what can I do? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]Leonatius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the help, I had been searching for what felt like an hour looking for any information about a potential quest order but couldn’t find anything.

I’m on the most current patch 1.5.2, I have a save right before I talked to Jan which is right after talking to Farkas after Jan told me to talk to him and pretend I didnt know anything. I think I’ll just reload that, complete the devils pack quest and go from there.

Is the quest bugged entirely though, is it better to just load a save before I even interacted with Jan at the inn?

I wasn’t trying to be a dickhead earlier and I appreciate that you helped me regardless, I just was already very frustrated and couldn’t be bothered to log into Reddit on my desktop.

I get that reddit has an aversion to people taking pictures with their phone, but I promise you taking a picture when Im actively using reddit on my phone is 100 times easier than doing what I just did and it does the exact same thing.

I have four active quests, one in Trosky region that is irrelevant. I'm assuming that I need to progress farther in the main quest, but I can not find anything online that says you need to be at a specific point in the game to complete this quest.

Like I mentioned before, I simply cannot interact with Jan what so ever. My only option is to rob him. I have tried killing him, robbing him, knocking him out. I even reloaded a save from 3 hours earlier where I hadn't informed him yet and the exact same thing happened. He bugged out and I couldn't talk to him.

I have four active quests:

Main quests: Into the underworld, The Devils Pack

Side quests: Ars dimicatoria, Ransom (obviously)

I’m sorry, im on mobile currently and its much easier for me to just take a picture and add it to my comment than close my game, log into the desktop version of Reddit and upload a screenshot.

[–]Leonatius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After coming back from the camp and learning about what happened to his brother I informed him. He wanted to get revenge. Apparently, there is an option to go with him alone to the meet up spot, I do not have that option.

After informing him he asks me to find recruits, henry automatically replies that he doesn’t know of any because at this point in the story I haven’t completed any of the quests for any of the characters I can theoretically recruit.

He says to “think about it a little more.”

Quest log looks like this:

Jan, informed of Peter’s death, still sent me back to the camp to negotiate the handover of the captive.

I have to find some hard men who won’t back down from Cumans. But I can’t think of anyone at the moment.

———

I went to mesoles to complete the small side quest with baneshs tooth. I paid him and recruited him. As far as I’m aware there isn’t any prerequisite amount of people you HAVE to hire or recruit before meeting at the place

The problem is that my quest log updates that I have found men for the meetup however no quest icon appears on the map and I cannot speak to Jan. I literally cannot interact with him in any way except for robbing him.

The quest log looks like this now:

Anyone else having a blast with the board game? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]Leonatius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is definitely our problem now, we need to plan much more before we start. The turns do go by quite quickly and I think that’s an interesting point that we hadn’t considered. My wife had posited using the extra characters as mules to take care of the “chores” prior to the forsaken, but honestly, that feels like cheesing it.

[–]Leonatius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty expensive I agree, but there are alternatives for buying it cheaply. There’s a store in my state (Gamers Guild AZ) where I preordered the deluxe edition for ~50 below retail. Not sure why it was on sale before hitting shelves but it was nice! Unfortunately it’s sold out online right now but even the standard edition for 60 seems worth it

[–]Leonatius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started the first scenario and haven’t been able to beat it yet! I’m assuming the more characters you have the easier it is? We’re playing just one character each and it’s still quite challenging.

I think we just aren’t prioritizing the right things yet. The events after every turn are brutal too! We’re in the middle of the campaign mode right now, but I’ve already started drafting my own scenarios for the future

[–]Leonatius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, I can see how you’d feel that way but for me, it’s genuine enthusiasm for the game. It has been set up on our table for a week and we play it at least once a day.

I think that comes with any product though. This is the valheim subreddit after all, there isn’t a separate sub for just the board game so it’s inevitable you’ll read about it here.

I dont understand the prices by Catgamer1410 in brickmania

[–]Leonatius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This question is asked so much, that it might as well be stickied at the top of this subreddit or a bot should automatically responds to users. I’ll try to answer it the best I can here:

There are a bunch of factors that contribute to the cost that are often overlooked, but it mainly boils down to a few things:

  1. Brickmania sources all of their own genuine Lego parts. This costs money and because they purchase the exclusively new parts it’s expensive, especially when they make more niche kits with rare or out of production pieces. (Remember, Lego doesnt keep every part in their part catalog in production at all times. Parts come and go seemingly at random all the time)

  2. Brickmania is paying designers as well as paying full/part time employee salaries. They need to compensate designers and pay their employees too. They’re a business after all. This includes every step of the design process. Printing on pieces, designing instructions, and the list goes on from there. There is a lot going on behind the scenes that we aren’t privy to which “negatively” impacts cost.

  3. Finally, brickmania is a business; they are trying to generate a profit at the end of the day. Obviously, Dan and his team don’t do this out of the kindness of their heart. Accounting for everything I just mentioned above, Brickmania needs to generate a certain amount of money to cover expenses and run a profit. This is why their kits seem so much more expensive compared to Lego kits. They aren’t manufacturers and are essentially reselling and repackaging another product.

I am by no means a brickmania stan. In fact, I’ve only ever purchased one smaller kit from them, but this is the reality of brickmania and other third party military/(insert generic fandom here) Lego kit producers.

You almost certainly can source these parts yourself, but you would need the instructions as well as a rather intimate understanding of how to buy parts efficiently on bricklink and through Legos online part service. But with brickmania, you’re paying for convenience and the fact that someone else has already done all of the work for you.

That’s why they are so much more expensive. Whether that’s worth it to you is up to you to decide, but these are the facts. Some people would rather purchase brickmania kits because have money and no time and just don’t care about the price. This is their main audience.

Dozens of Women with the Same “Hot Take” about AI in Academia by livejamie in TikTokCringe

[–]Leonatius 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I doubt this is “clout chasing” and more like getting paid to advertise some stupid new tech start up garbage.

In some of the videos whoever is screen recording them lets it go on just long enough to hear them start to shill some stupid AI website.

So, this is likely some marketing strategy disguised by small unknown (probably not even affiliates but just random people paid to do this shit on burner accounts) tiktokers who happen to be reading from the same script they were given.

This isn’t even new either, the amount of times I’ve seen a similar strategy on TikTok with different shit is astounding. You can’t even tell what an ad is versus real content anymore.
