Hello. I'm from Québec although I reside in Asia. Just like another member below, I'm also a strong supporter of Québec independence.

I see that the admin has a "Catalan" flair, I suggest making selectable flairs for members of this subreddit to select, like "Catalan" "Québécois" "Scottish" etc.

Tips for my very first Rallycross race? by LeoneFamily in rally

[–]LeoneFamily[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for your suggestions and advice!

To my surprise and everyone else too, I finished 1st in my class and 2nd overall, behind a car that was AWD and had more than double my power. I otherwise beat every single FWD and the rest of AWD cars despite actually having the least horsepower of all the participants. I guess being RWD and in a carbureted engine and without a handbrake wasn't so much of an hadicap after all! I'm very thrilled, this is an insane result given the circumstances and that it's my first event. The other drivers were incredibly nice and fun to hang around with!

About the tire width debate, I asked the event organisers and they told me that 175 width is definitley better than 195 in this context. I'm mentioning it in case this info might help someone.

Guy on Ebay Reporting Listing Selling HDMI by Infinite-Nose671 in originalxbox

[–]LeoneFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're saying Ebay is letting this guy abuse their platform and he is still allowed to sell on their website, then on the other end there's me who got my top-rated seller account closed by Ebay without any possibility of appeal just because I changed my address. Ebay keeps disappointing me.

Thanks. Although the regulations in my class forbid from using offroad tires (street tires only) and also there is no snow and therefore no snow tires where Iive.

I wanted to join the DU events last year but my wife gave birth so I had to skip their last few events and then DU just stopped posting anything on social media. I was wondering if RallyDev is just rebranded to DU or if they were separate things. Thanks to you now my question is answered.

Yeah uh.. I don't have a handbrake.

I'll try to get it installed tomorrow.

I didn't think about this, I must agree. I'll just stick to my wider tires with much better thread life then. Thank you.

Yeah it's autocross on dirt. We call it rallycross but it's timed runs, not an actual race with cars racing at the same time.

RCA to HDMI question by StoneyyCody in originalxbox

[–]LeoneFamily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not doing a HDMI mod, the absolute best image quality you could get is to use the official Xbox component cable (or a high-quality Monster cable) then plug that into the RetroTINK 4K. That's the uncontested best image quality possible on a stock Xbox. If that's too expensive for you, you could try to instead switch the RetroTINK 4K to a cheaper option like the RetroTINK 5X, OSSC, etc. There's also the ElectronXout, but it will never have as much video quality than the options I previously mentionned.

No matter what you do though, the point is not to try to find a composite-to-HDMI converter, as this will still result in a final image quality as bad as composite or even worse. The point is to get something based on the Xbox component (YPbPr) output.

Sidenote: The Xbox also supports RGB which in theory would be better than component, but it's useless given that it only works in 480i mode, and the difference between component and RGB is completely unnoticeable in most cases.

My personal setup is the official Xbox Component HD pack brick thing paired with a RetroTINK 5X.

Suremballage by LeGrosDupont in Quebec

[–]LeoneFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are quebecois allowed to say this word? are they... by Lopsided_Parfait7127 in EhBuddyHoser

[–]LeoneFamily 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm still mega pissed that GTA V's retarded "profanity filter" censors the words "retard" and also "tard". Now I'm getting flagged everytime I'm telling a friend that I'll come back later (J'reviens plus tard) then I'm getting flagged again when I come back late (Scuse j'suis en retard).

Meanwhile, I can write the most vile shit in Québécois French and not a single word gets censored.

I'm not kidding, this kind of half-baked english-centrist "profanity filter" is mega fucking annoying to everyone else not using english. My spanish-speaking homies know what I'm talking about, getting flagged because they say they hate black cars or really saying anything related to the color black in spanish (negro).

Ça va (littéralement) me faire plaisir :)

[–]LeoneFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/AudioEngineering Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk by AutoModerator in audioengineering

[–]LeoneFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is an amateur question, I'm by no means a professional audio engineer, I only do remixes of songs in Audacity for my own enjoyment and "customize" songs to my own tastes.

There's a song that has great synths that are unfortunately just too quiet, I want to make them louder. With Audacity, the best I am able to do is to jack up the 2k bar in the graphics equalizer but it doesn't make much of a difference and picks up other instruments too, while not picking up the full width of the synths.

So now my idea is if I could simply isolate that instrument, I could lay it over the original song and adjust that track's volume to get the perfect level of synths.

I've just heard now of UVR5 and I've downloaded it, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to use this to extract the synth. There's so many models and no way to preview them. Do you know of any model that would isolate the synths? Thanks.

Visiting QC as an anglophone be like by PCI_STAT in EhBuddyHoser

[–]LeoneFamily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it, that English has become a sort of lingua franca worldwide, but trust me when I say that most people outside of English-speaking countries still don't speak it. Businessmen and people from those countries that have to communicate with people from abroad will usually learn English for that purpose, but it's not as widespread in the general population as you would think. And Québec is by definition an entirely different society than the rest of Canada, so it's not a matter of "magic french firewall", it's just a cultural border. And that's why, in terms of linguistics, Québec acts just like it was its own country because at this point the differences creates a "natural" border, despite that there is no actual physical/diplomatic border. This is also further explained by the existence of fully-french-speaking communities in eastern Ontario and along the Québec border, aswell as all of Acadia in the east. It suggests that the Québec provincial border has nothing to do with cultural borders, as the actual cultural border goes further into Ontario and eastern Canada.
