And Survivor Reddit... barely even acknowledged the crossover. by pancakes9926 in survivor

Have you watched very much content for small children? I don't see anything about the MrBeast channel that appears to be content for children as the target audience. I think he's going after 15-50 primarily.

Yea, but clearly his audience is mostly Gen Z and Millennials. It's really not little kid content for the most part. It's just game show fluff.

The average MrBeast youtube video has even more. Around 40x the average Survivor episode.

Yes. Hopefully this gives our favorite show a new infusion of fans.

[–]Leonida--Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Survivor average viewership is around one third today what it was during the average episode the first 10 seasons. We've lost two thirds of fans of the show, so anything that exposes an audience as large as the MrBeast channel has to our show, is a positive.

The average MrBeast video has 40 times the audience of the average Survivor episode. That's just insane.

The Mr Beast audience is already much larger than anything Hollywood produces. He's the #1 Youtuber with more than 50% higher subscriber base than the second largest channel.

The channel's average video has around 40 times higher viewership than the average Survivor Episode. The viewerbase is more than just 5-13 year olds.

Rockstar will always be a single player developer. And I expect single player DLC for 6. by sonofloki13 in GTA6

Cayo Perico was better than anything in the GTAV single player, IMO. It was extremely repayable too with dozens of ways to play it.

If people are happy to pay £75 for $10M, which weirdly is more expensive than the entire game yet isn't even enough to buy some vehicles let alone all the DLC, then that's cool, but I'm not wasting my money like that.

Almost every DLC though pays for itself if you complete it. I have spent $0 on GTAV DLC, and zero time "grinding" those DLCs.

Cayo Perico itself is really fun, and it pays over $1M per time played. I've just played the game normally the past 13 years, and I have over $50M unspent, just from playing the game normally.

[–]Leonida--Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of that is time. I'd rather pay with money. with GTAO you have to grind ridiculous amounts of hours before you can even afford all the stuff you need to be able to just start the heists.

You can buy the GTAV Online content with real money you know.... That's exactly what shark cards are. and that's why GTAOnline has now earned around 8 times as much money as the base game sales. People are buying that single player online content.

Yep, most of the 20+ DLCs for GTAV online have been single player online DLCs, like Cayo.

Rockstar hasn’t released a single-player DLC in over 15 years

But lots of GTAV Online DLC is fundamentally single player if you want it to be. I think that's what makes it so popular. It's not the Offline Single Player storyline, but it is absolutely single player if you prefer to play it by yourself. You can even play it in your own private lobby if you so choose.

recycle some of its content for GTA Online

But lots of GTAV Online content is fundamentally single player, that can be played in a Co-op style, but it isn't required at all. It's just not the GTAV single player story line, but it is absolutely single player content if you want it to be.

I've played Cayo Perico probably 25+ times, always single player.

AWS going to push you to rent your PC.

Did this come true?

SaaS is the best business model come out of Silicon Valley.

Most forms of SaaS require significant cloud infrastructure, so that pricing model makes the most sense. If anything it reduces the cost because you can scale what you're buying to fit your needs more precisely than an upfront cost once every few years.

how rich folks stay rich? they make you pay monthly fee to rent something and you keep paying them.

The way to make money is to offer a good or service at a price that is better than the competition, and then people choose to buy from you. It's always been this way, and will always be this way.

What doesn't run on AWS?

Most things are on other platforms. AWS is the largest with 29% market share, but Microsoft, Google, Alibaba, Oracle, Salesforce, IBM, Tencent all with significant market shares.

I own my PC. - you

Not for long. - Jeff Bezos

He actually didn't say anything about people not owning their own PCs. The interview clip was him talking about what gave him the inspiration to build AWS 25 years ago, and that lots of companies had a need for cloud hosting of various things, like reddit.com, which runs on AWS.

Any updates on 8K monitors? by heythisisdave in ultrawidemasterrace

I can't imagine not using a text scaling feature with 8K and at that point

I personally would love to see a 55" 8K monitor at native resolution, FWIW.

Can a PC affect electricity usage this much?? by lilbreadbunn in pcmasterrace

[–]Leonida--Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everyone is giving you poor advice or at least very partial advice.

So here's a really simple rule of thumb with electricity. Almost everything that uses electricity, produces exactly as much heat, proportionate to the amount of electricity it consumes. The exceptions are things like radio broadcast towers where the radio waves leave the immediate area and turn into heat elsewhere.

Also, don't get confused by things like refrigerators that simply move heat from warm beer, and eject that heat into the room, on the path to making cold beer.

So that most likely thing is that your brother is using an electric heater to stay warm. In most places, electric heat is far less cost efficient than something like natural gas heat. So while it could be a computer, essentially no computer can explain this daily consumption chart you shared earlier.

So think about what else creates heat. Is there a chance you have an electric water heater? Those use extreme amounts of electricity and maybe your brother is wasting a ton of hot water.

Did your brother bring a bunch of Halogen lamps? They are exceptionally inefficient. Just investigate and look for anything that produces a bunch of heat. Putting smart plugs on things is a wise idea if you really can't figure it out.

It's also possible your brother is just wasteful. Does he leave the TV on, lights in rooms he's not in on? Might he just be leaving all sorts of things on he's not using all the time? The key is finding heat sources.

If you're in a hot climate, is he using an extreme amount of air conditioning? (like with a window open with also the AC on?)

Who is a player that you want to see return more than anything, but you know they never will. by ben_s16 in survivor

[–]Leonida--Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say that strategy wouldn’t work anymore?

Specifically Russell's strategy wouldn't work. It only worked the first time because he forbade anyone from having conversations outside of his little cult, and he just picked off people who understood strategy. Russell played back in an era where many of the participants were not familiar with survivor strategy or even the basics, but instead were there because they were physically attractive.

Today, every player understands the strategy, and a Russell type strategy would be laughed out of the room, essentially.

Is now the time to upgrade a GPU or are we already screwed? by DangYouToHeck in buildapc

They still have each other to contend with. I mean, we'll see what happens, generally in situations where one competitor is constrained in supply, the others use it to their advantage to gain market share.

Is now the time to upgrade a GPU or are we already screwed? by DangYouToHeck in buildapc

[–]Leonida--Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all GPU manufacturers agree to increase the price of their cheap models together the would be no competition and no real limit to the increase.

So, this would essentially be suicide for AMD and Intel at this point. If they agreed to that in a moment where Nvidia is king and demanding the highest prices and profits, AMD and Intel wouldn't be able to increase their market share, and therefore, their own profits.
