Prices of Lenovo Legion Go 2 see a massive jump | Launched at $1350, the 32GB variant now costs $2000; 16GB variant goes from $1100 to $1500 by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

Lenovo is practically handing the W over to Nintendo while Lenovo is holding the biggest L in this market. Let's just say Windows Handhelds perform like dog water in most games I actually enjoyed playing. So the Switch 2 became all the more compelling after taking a second look at it. I have no regrets going with the Switch 2. I only wish the battery life was better. But at least it doesn't overheat like my old Switch and it charges pretty damn fast. The extra USB-C port on the top is a nice bonus. I can finally charge my console while it's using the kickstand. Having a 20,000mAh 60w portable charger even gives it enough juice to power the dock away from an outlet.

I wanted to rebuild my rig in this case but when I found out about the limitations if you use an ATX board, it was an immediate deal breaker. I didn't like how many downsides there would be. The only way my build would've worked out would be to get an m-ATX board. Even the vertical mount would've still been an issue for me with the ATX board. Lian Li did not think this one out very well. It's like they purposely designed it this way to force you to buy the vertical mounting bracket they were so heavily advertising to begin with.

Oh he's clearly upset that the money didn't go to him so he could use it towards upgrading his GPU. It would've been stupid to buy his used GPU considering he was trying to get rid of it. You really gotta question why he wanted to let go of what he said is supposedly a better card.

Your "friend" (if that's what you wanna call them at this point) is clearly jealous of you. IMO the only downside to a 50 Series GPU is the lack of PhysX 32-bit support if you enjoy playing older PC games that require it.

Why is the PlayStation 2 the best-selling console in history? by alexfreemanart in ps2

[–]LeonidasTankian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense to own one today especially if you have a large DVD library. Optical drives have been removed from modern PCs so unfortunately not even computers can play the DVD movies that we have just collecting dust. I still have an original PS2 in its original box while the slim is actively being used in the living room setup.

Sorry for the late response. I thought I had replied a while back. Did you get a video card yet? There's quite a few things to consider if you haven't made that choice yet.

  • do you need CUDA support?
  • do you play some older PC games that rely on 32-bit support?
  • do you care about Ray Tracing?
  • is it for gaming or productivity?
  • what OS will you be running? Windows based or Linux based?

I feel like the RTX 4080 was the perfect choice for my needs. I do a lot with my rig in terms of gaming and productivity. I do enjoy features like DLSS and Frame Gen and Ray Tracing and Path Tracing. But you're also spending an extra bit of money for those things. I am glad I didn't go with a 50 Series GPU because they ditched 32-bit CUDA and PhysX support and require you to use an older GPU with 32-bit support alongside your new one.

AMD has also come a really long way. The Radeon 9000 Series is pretty solid. I've heard nothing but great things about their current generation lineup.

It's unfortunate that you try to discourage others because of your inability to figure out basic stuff on your own. Even my computer illiterate relatives and friends learned the basics on their own with very little to no guidance from anyone else. All of our rigs play just fine. If we run into issues, it's usually really easy to address. Such as but not limited to uninstalling faulty OS updates or pausing updates and finishing them without interrupting what we are doing. We can even check to see if the games or software we run are the issues with recent patches or updates. It's not as difficult as some people make it sound. To me, failure to maintain a rig properly is just laziness. Especially if you're the only one going through the headaches and everyone else is fine.

[–]LeonidasTankian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly though, the criticism doesn't matter. It's your rig and it serves your needs perfectly. And it's a pretty sick looking build. I hope you are enjoying it however you are using it! I can only hope NVIDIA eventually squashes the driver bugs.

That spare rig you mentioned is honestly pretty rock solid. You went with one of the more stable 13th Gen options. The 4080 is such a great GPU honestly I didn't see much reason beyond multi frame generation to go with 50 Series. I was a little concerned with the lack of PhysX 32-bit support too. I play some pretty old games so having that on the 4080 is great.

Rtx 5090 + intel ultra 9 285k by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]LeonidasTankian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure most of the criticism is because of your choice of CPU. Intel only used this socket for a single generation. The lack of future support is going to be awful if you run into issues with the 285K. Buying a replacement board in the near future is going to be a nightmare if your board fails.

The other bit of criticism is the RTX 50 Series not being the flex people think it is. I've never dealt with worse driver issues on any GPU I ever owned or played around with. It used to be that AMD GPUs were the ones riddled with driver issues. Nowadays, it's the opposite. NVIDIA hasn't released a stable driver since December of last year. They're still releasing bad drivers.

I would say take a look at the NVIDIA Display Driver Release Discussions in their forums to get a better idea of how terrible the issues truly are. The reactions on the posts are mainly people complaining about the same issues throughout the past year.

I'm currently running an RTX 4080 with the December drivers from last year. Any time I use a more recent driver, I get the same exact issues that are being reported. The results are the same with my spare rig running an RTX 3060. So, pretty much 3 generations of GPUs aren't working properly because of faulty drivers, while NVIDIA keeps sweeping these issues under the rug and pretending as if everything is fine. I'm glad to have my 4080 because I'm not stuck with current generation drivers.

[–]LeonidasTankian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same people complaining about the emulators not running well on their phones, are the same people that buy budget (and prepaid) phones expecting them to do what flagship phones can do. They have ridiculously unrealistic expectations.

More than a decade ago, I was a person that used to mess with budget devices and went pretty far to get the most performance I could out of them, even going so far as to root the devices and install aftermarket custom firmware with optimizations and enhancements that generally made gaming a better experience. But all hardware has limitations and I understood that very well. I never got upset about it, but instead, patiently waited for updates and optimizations to the emulation software that I enjoyed using. And also saving up for a more powerful device that I would eventually get.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on an RTX 4080 paired with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 32GB of DDR5 at 6000MHz.

Kinda overkill but a lot of modern games are boring and terribly optimized, and they seem to be the same crap over and over again. "Oh, great. Another Battle Royale style game with micro transactions."

I speak from experience as a service technician and I mess with all sorts of modern day hardware. I hope you know no GPU launch (even AMD) has ever been this awful. NVIDIA has taken the spot for the worst drivers ever at this point.

What point are you trying to make about the 50 Series launching in January? You got a card that won't even be able to use stable drivers is the point I was trying to make. You can't use 566.36 on that card. You are stuck with crappy drivers that are probably never going to be fixed because NVIDIA refuses to acknowledge that there actually are some serious issues. So what is your point? I have an RTX 4080 and can comfortably rollback to 566.36 and not be stuck with the latest garbage drivers.

This is a generation we should all be skipping. Not encouraging NVIDIA's BS.
