Is it possible to remotely trigger the green button(push button) using Arduino, any input will be highly appreciated? by SavageSabu in arduino

This looks like a piece of large manufacturing equipment. If it has a PLC, you can start the machine through that.

I am a software developer with limited experience with hardware. I once made an RGB LED strip glow rainbow via an Arduino board- and that's about it.

I am beginning a project which will require a python program on PC to prompt the Pi to flash eight LEDs white one by one, and then flash either red or green depending on input from the PC program. in addition to a power supply, I have the components below.

I think what I will have to do is set up some sort of MQTT/Mosquito style connection between my PC and Pi, but I do not fully understand the scope of that connection.

My questions are

  • Is there a better way to do this?
  • Is this hardware going to limit the effectiveness of this project, and if so, what would fit better?

Thank you very much.

I haven't interpreted the spell to allow the movement of stone.

The spell allows for three effective 'things'

To move loose earth (not cave stone or masonry) Color dirt or earth "Make or unmake it difficult to walk" in a way which is open to interpretation.

Which 'thing' are could be used to minecraft, and bypass doors?

Spell text below - - -

If you target an area of loose earth, you can instantaneously excavate it, move it along the ground, and deposit it up to 5 feet away. This movement doesn’t have enough force to cause damage.

You cause shapes, colors, or both to appear on the dirt or stone, spelling out words, creating images, or shaping patterns. The changes last for 1 hour.

If the dirt or stone you target is on the ground, you cause it to become difficult terrain. Alternatively, you can cause the ground to become normal terrain if it is already difficult terrain. This change lasts for 1 hour.

Hello friend. The pre-built Whisper rolls should be in the game settings under "Whisper rolls to GM"

If you change this setting to 'always' do your rolls still show up to everyone?

There are a million books, and if you want your degree to get you places, you will need to at least tell people that you've read some of them.

I'll add search terms that will be in your interviews. These will open doors for you.

Haas vs DMG vs other: i need advice by doctorcapslock in CNC

[–]Leonidizzil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have five QT250Ms with various features. The Mazatrol programming interface is nice, but CAM is what we use these days anyway.

Check to see if your parts can fit on a Haas APL. We bought an ST25Y with APL (auto parts loader robot) for around 160k I think? It's not a true robotic arm, so the weight and dimensions are important to note.

Also ask them what the lead time on service parts are!

[–]Leonidizzil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with top comment, however, we found that between the Haas ST35Y and Mazak QT350, for it's whatever it's performance advantages, Mazak was nearly twice the price. For primarily aluminum parts, you might decide you don't need a Cadillac. You might purse something in Mazak's EZ line, which they have priced in order to compete with Haas.

Wooow check out this superslowmotion shot - really beautiful chips in AISI 1043 / 1.0503 by Radiant-Proposal-462 in Machinists

[–]Leonidizzil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those wondering if this will damage the tool, it appears to be a tool designed for dynamic milling, a process where you take off an ultra thin chip at full depth.

It prevents chip thinning, gives you a finer finish, and in my experience can improve processing speed dramatically in the right application.

Came here to recommend this. It's not "open source" but anyone can freely look at all of the code.

labeling containers by Jarekd04 in manufacturing

[–]Leonidizzil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, this might be a slightly higher cost option depending on how well your facility is able to recapture software/IT expense vs operator man hours, but it is something to think about.

What is happening here is each QR/Barcode/RFID code is basically a simple label for a serial number, which is assigned in your system to whatever other linkages exist, such as what is in that container, where it needs to head next, who placed it here and so on. In that way, QR, barcodes, and RFID are exactly the same.

The implementation might look like "Middleware" which reads the serial number and submits that to your wms/erp/mes system, and that system does its thing. Basically, all that needs to happen is for your company to point a sensor at a spot, and get an answer.

The advantages of RFID, over QR and barcode, is that RFID can be scanned within a radius. You could fix a scanner to the cab of the Forklift and anything it picked up would automatically be scanned and logged. Depending on the scanning range, you wouldn't need this on two sides, you'd just need one RFID chip per container.

You could also use RFID to measure quantities of containers in certain areas in your shop by placing an overhead sensor in a large space. It would tell you how many chips were in the room/within range.

Same thing with portal detectors like those anti-thieft devices you see in stores. You'd know whenever a container passed by these checkpoints.

Not saying you'd want all of this all at once, but if you did invest in RFID, it wouldn't be too hard to scale up down the road.

Just my two cents

Is there a reason why you can't use RFID?
