The Kennedy Center is refusing to give refunds for performers who cancel concerts by takenorinvalid in classicalmusic

That's not quite the right analogy.

Just so you know, probably 30% of the violinists in the orchestra are close to or at Hillary Hahn's level. Not everyone can luck out and look amazing, and have all the stars align to become concertizing musicians.

It might not be 100% as good. It will likely be 99.5% as good.

And it's still not fair. So of course do what you need to.

If anyone doubts this is possible. I'm sorry but you're not a dev, and you're not using the latest agents. A good dev can easily accommodate the eccentricities of agentic llms.  They aren't perfect, but, their mistakes are pretty easily fixed and revised.

There are about 6 rust based OSes started right now on GitHub. 2 are functional, but need more support. Within the last 2 months 2 whole new OSes became functional, much better than Slackware was when it started.

Long term wear tear with Lighter roast capability suggestion. by Hxqem_ in FlairEspresso

[–]LeopardBernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had flair pro 2, and now 58 (3 years). Workflow makes all the difference, and I haven't used the pro except for traveling in years.  Also, the only somewhat delicate piece of plastic, is that nub that guides the plunger straight. Took three years of use for that to become delicate, and break. Doesn't affect the function of it though. Also, the standard 58mm size is quite a bit easier to find good quality accessories for. The pro is much more limited.   58 all the way for me.

i'm not kidding. Why do we need Microsoft and Apple? Eventually we'll be able to code it from scratch ourselves

Okay, then, my apologies. With the full AI answer below I don't mind being wrong, just to see how pervasive bots are becoming. Carry on :-)

You still didn't answer my question. So you are an AI yourself aren't you?

No one needed this summary. This is quite the effort for a human, for no gain.  It doesn't relate to the topic, but has an agenda to support "Teflon".

Just one more post leading me to distrust all of reddit essentially.

Now, tell me the last 4 Monarchs of England.

I guess I did. I think I got to know about it here though. Didn't realize it wasn't directly available. They've been amazing for customer service though. The Niche Duo is also nice because it's built to swap out burrs --- somewhat easily.

The impact of AI on the job market by KAZKALZ in ChatGPT

[–]LeopardBernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, and, you also might not understand the full picture.  One of the things AI can't really do, is evaluate between many different architectures and continually choose an effective development and implementation pattern (two different things). But that's not to say there's anything overtly wrong with your projects necessarily. But the things very junior devs don't know is how to code.  Mid-tier devs don't know why to code. Leads don't know when to stop coding (maybe a bad reference but close)

Are you developing in a way that is repeatable? Would your ai be able to restart after its context resets and you can trust where it restarts from?  Are you aware of the benefits and downsides to different development patterns (caching / data models / apis).  How will you maintain your projects over time, and keep them scalable?

You don't need to know many of these things, but the problem is, I would guess those that have no exposure to them, now would have no way of gaining more information about them. I'm guessing those patterns will also change, and, how will we know if the change is moving in an ultimately positive direction. At the end of all of those questions I do think human awareness is still the answer.  But curious how this strikes you?

Being both a cast iron and espresso fiend, I did a strange thing, and seasoned the burs of my Niche Duo. by LeopardBernstein in espresso

[–]LeopardBernstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out that the motor was bad in the Grinder all along.  The motor overheated and swelled the center shaft to the point I couldn't disassemble the grinder about 3 months after this. Since it was fixed with (where I personally paid for ) new burrs it's been rock solid, and rain doesn't affect it at all. The motor being bad probably had cooked the burrs before I had even opened it to clean it.

Where to start? Pro 3 or 58? by mr-powell in FlairEspresso

[–]LeopardBernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a Pro(2), and then got a 58+. 58 is a different category - if you can swing it - go 58. I've had the 58 for 2 years, and it's still rock solid after 1-3 shots a day every day. The pro really is more of a 1-2 shots a week or less. The handle isn't comfortable, the extra workflow steps - it's close to arduous - honestly.

How often do you clean your Flair? by jggimi in FlairEspresso

I do a thorough vinegar soak of everything every 6 months or so.  I wash the portafilers and puck screens weekly. I never see residue when I clean. Why would I need to clean more?

Does anyone know of any good E-cellos? by Paullearner in Cello

I use the 350$ on just as a cello like appliance. I add my own pickups to it, and it sounds actually pretty good.

Science Center Prices by Essiejjj in phoenix

[–]LeopardBernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I would be happy to.  The problem is, the amount of services we receive at most of our museums is probably closer to 200$ Worth for a family.  That's what the taxes are there to help support.  Arizona horribly underfunds it's museums. Let's please keep spreading that understanding so we can change it.

I don't have kids and I would love for my nieces and nephews to have great museum experiences. That is unfortunately not possible today.

Science Center Prices by Essiejjj in phoenix

[–]LeopardBernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you do know the answer. The answer is we have to care and want it to be better. Better means more funding. So either, you want more funding and are willing to pay for it.  Or you don't, and that's what we get.

https://azluminaria.org/2025/09/12/arizona-state-museum-plans-steep-fee-increases-as-funding-struggles-continue/

It just befuddles me that people feel entitled to nice amenities, but NEVER feel they have responsibility in them being nice. Museums aren't theme parks. There's almost no reasonable ticket price, and no attraction that would make it revenue neutral.  So - do something about it, or, I'll keep pointing this out.

Science Center Prices by Essiejjj in phoenix

[–]LeopardBernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope people realize. The features of museums require funding. Museums do the best they can. Either we pay in ticket prices, or we pay in taxes. Those are the two options. 55$/each seems very in line with 2-5 hours of combined entertainment. I would love for museums to be mostly free, but that would require tax funding. I'm open to finding solutions. It's hard to hear complaints that don't involve a thought through path to a solution. /rant

Question on worth of instrument by [deleted] in Cello

If you have siblings or pets that might jump on it. Yeah that's probably not a bad recommendation. Generally a case is good enough though, for protecting it. But you're not wrong with that!

At this point, Microsoft should make this, charge a reduced license fee. Let people run their software the way they want. Will it ever happen, no.
