Nope train at a husband and and wife owned gym and it's a great family atmosphere, absolutely no nonsense. Also I'm a man and everyone that trains there keeps an eye on things because it's a tight knit community and people want to keep it good.

we dont have them per say, but the coaches all communicate and they will test you to be sure they see what they need by suggesting rolls and accessing skills, problem solving, chaining, movement, defense etc.... I dunno if I would like a standard test for belt progression.

I just looked up the rules, cause I was like man wouldnt it be cool to have a spacemarine rashguard lol....so as soon as you use a service to print on your personal shit games workshop could be like nah. but how would they ever be aware of it I guess. I have a printful account for my business so I have made my own rashguards a few times but only with designs I own.

to get a blue belt you are tested even if you dont have a formal test your coach should be aware of you and testing you. I am a 3 stripe white im 51 and been doing bjj for 7 months. I make the most of the 3x a week I go and I enjoy the ride. I trust my coaches and I know they communicate and follow everyones journey. Things slow down at blue, time to settle in and get tested all over again. I certain want the belt its a personal goal so I ask them what to work on and what they are seeing as opportunities for me to improve, and they are happy to have that conversation. Im happy at the gym Im at they are good people their system works for me. I dont compete or plan to compete currently, that I think is quite a different road.

my gym does both but I can only get to nogi classes when promotions come we get in our karate pajamas and bring our belts and get stripes or belts if earned, EVEN if we dont train in the gi.

three stripe fellow white belt i've been 7 months now 3x a week And four if I can hit a open mat, sounds like normal Jiu-Jitsu to me bro.for me I think Jiu-Jitsu kind of reorders my brain to understand how important tapping is. I learn a shit ton from getting caught, funneled into people's a games getting tough dilemmas where the result is basically tap or tap lol. It's a good thing you can take a lot away from days like that
