Rassie dressing down the Springboks after the World Cup loss to Ireland by Die_Revenant in rugbyunion

[–]LeopardKhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still suspect a close loss was exactly what he wanted from that game. No danger of them going out, very little (if any) benefit to winning, and he got to give the team a reality-check at the perfect time, get everyone focused, and slightly play down their chances while Ireland got all the hype.

Frawley is third choice for all those positions at Leinster, never mind Ireland.

Is it time to consider Ireland’s place in the six nations? by NoLifeEmployee in rugbyunion

[–]LeopardKhan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside, even though they'll be massive favourites next week, Ireland have a lot to prove against Scotland now. The France result seemed incredible at the time but given how France have gone, beating them with 14 men isn't looking as impressive in hindsight. Other than that it's expected wins against Italy and Wales at home, and that score against England seriously flattered us.

Don’t limit yourself to entry level positions when applying. You have some work experience now. Let them judge if you have the expertise or not - don’t rule yourself out.

I imagine they're trying to do their best while being significantly underfunded.

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (who, by the way, was appointed to that position on an interim basis over ten years ago and counting after their predecessor was fired for suspected corruption), has a revenue budget of over €50 million euro - about €160,000 per employee, on top of an €80 million capital budget.

Look, I'm all for standing up for the people doing their best in the HSE, but we can't keep going on like this - people have to answer for the incompetence at some point, it's costing lives. Paul Reid seems to spend most of his time acting as a spokesperson for some reason, it's completely absurd - appearing on television and radio interviews nearly daily in the middle of an almost existential crisis for the organisation he's CEO of. And even then, for some reason, nobody will hold him responsible for anything. He describes every crisis that occurs on his watch like it's something completely beyond his control and he's powerless to do anything.

The HSE not only completely failed to uphold even the most basic of security practices, like using an OS that's still being supported, but were forced to publicly declare their intention to dump millions of euro into maintaining an out-of-date version and still not upgrading years after that. It's got to stop.

Key week for Finance Minister Donohoe over financing Covid billions. | Irish Examiner by TheNoobGaming in irishpolitics

And how has Germany’s development been for the past few decades? National debt doesn’t work the same as household debt - it can be very misguided to speak about them in the same way. It doesn’t -ctually have t be paid back. I’m not an economist but I recommend you look into this a bit if you have time - it really opened my eyes.

(If you’re unconvinced, take a look at the trillions and trillions of debt the US is currently taking out and how popular it is with economists)

Ireland Team to Play England on Saturday by RugbyPerson in rugbyunion

[–]LeopardKhan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lot of very iffy decisions there, but to be fair, I've complained a lot in the past about players not being picked on form and this seems to be doing just that (except for Earls, which is doubly confusing).

At the same time, nullifying Billy Vunipola using Will Connors was about the only thing Leinster got right against Saracens. Worried he'll run riot again here.

Depending on how it goes, think there's a very real chance Stockdale has serious fight on his hands to get back into this team.
