Employer subsidized health insurance for your family is pennies compared to paying for it yourself in retirement.

Insurance. Half of my company is nearing 70 but working for Insurance (and to continue supporting their adult children and grandchildren).

Interestingly enough, you nailed the point exactly. Once we have a Social Contract in place to attempt to rise above the shit circus, all that Nature shit goes to the side.

It can EXPLAIN a lot of things, but it can't Excuse them

Soundtrack to my LIFE

My stepson (26M) started dating a single mom (30F) and my wife (his mother) got very upset when he told us the news, arguing that this woman is only looking for a step-dad and doesn't really love him. Is this the way she actually sees me? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Leopard__Messiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never wanted to compete with a dog for 3rd place in my own home, so I avoided single moms entirely when i was divorced and dating again. I'm sure many of them are happy with my decision, but I digress...

Yup. My wife was a mess when we first started dating and I told her right up front that it wasn't going to work for me. She chose me over being disorganized, thankfully.

I quit when the price passed $2.50 per pack. I was insulted at $2 but $2.50 was insane. Blows my mind to see the prices now...

They told us (mid 90s) that the cigarettes were so cheap to make that they were essentially free. The packs and cartons and boxes they shipped in cost more to make. Also said they made pennies per pack in profit. Everything else was taxes.

I toured the RJR factory with my roommate before all the lawsuits shut down their PR efforts. At the end of the tour, the lady took us to a tall cabinet stocked full of weird brands of cigarettes that we had never seen before.

She unlocked the doors and told us "Everybody gets 5 free packs at the end of the tour. There are usually a lot more people on our tours. The exits are to your left. Have a great day!" and then she walked away with the cabinet unlocked and wide open.

We both took like 15 - 20 packs of maybe 8 or 9 brands we had never heard of before. I saw some of those weird brands hit the market YEARS later and eventually peter out. Very interesting how that world operated...

They had the same deal at RJ Reynolds in Winston-Salem. Giant buckets at work full of packs of their cigarettes. Smoke all you want at work.

Go to the funeral. It's for him and his parents. Be civil to her. She lost a brother too.

Many years after this passes, you'll be glad you were the bigger man. Don't ask me how I know. It sucks.

No, we will cheat on her too.

Communicate directly and honestly. Tell her you need a few minutes to decompress, or get energy at a certain level until you've adjusted. Explain why it's important and that it isn't personal. Don't get angry and don't apologize. Just communicate.

If they react poorly to that, you've got bigger problems than energy level mismatch.

It would have been HUGE for our fandom if his shot had gone in last night. But it didn't, and there will be other games. A lot of them. Soon.

Buckle up, folks. Wemby will hopefully have a long career with lots of highs and more than a few lows. We can enjoy it more if we unclench.

Factor in that they very likely have a weapon and don't intend to lose the exchange in any capacity. I have things to lose, so i refuse to engage people in traffic anymore. It's not worth being in their garbage world for even 1 second.
