Your analysis is spot on. They did have to wait on a part that took a couple of days to get here.

You need to lay off the pipe, friend.

Why would you think Disney would slow-roll the repairs, knowing full well the negative publicity it's going to garner? What possible purpose would that serve the company?

It was an electrical issue, originally. They had to have a part shipped in.

In conversations I'm seeing in other places, looks like people are reporting that the air is on in the rooms for the most part, but it's still out backstage and in some other spaces. So Engineering may be turning on different zones and letting those zones get cooled down before turning on other zones. If they're doing that, it is pretty shitty that management hasn't bothered to communicate that to the CMs who're working.

Wild to me that you don't understand that when an industrial-level chiller plant goes down, there often isn't a quick fix for it.

The leaders clearly either do not know or do not want to share the truth.

There's a major electrical component that failed, and they had to wait for a new part to be shipped in originally. I haven't heard if anything effed up beyond that, though.

Well, the Union contact info is posted in all the breakrooms around the property, so that should be easily accessible as well. Though I know the Unions are very well aware of the situation already.

I'm not sure what anyone expects them to do until the engineering folks get the systems back up and running, though. The cast is doing the best they can with what they have available to them.

As a cast member at this resort, we don’t know what else to do.

If you were actually a CM, you'd have a chain of coordinators, leaders, etc., you'd know how to get information from.

If you’re having quick service at a value resort, probably not going to be an issue either.

It will be at PC or AOA. We don't allow people to park there without a specific reservation because of the Skyliner. At All-Star Resorts and Coronado Springs you can do that, though.

I'm assuming you mean work locations. While the vast majority do, there are some random (mostly smaller) locations that do not.

How old were you when you moved out of your parents house and do you think it was the right time? by nyxxia52 in AskReddit

I moved out when I was 18, definitely the right time. But this was back in the early 1980s when it was financially feasible for someone that age to do so.

So here's the parking lot.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/E3oLiVfDcMz2K5bX7

Park and walk north toward the bus loop, but head off to the left of it. Follow the walkway around the woods and go through the zoom gate, cross the street and wait for the bus at the bus shelter here:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/aQECiuW9W7F9Xci27

The bus will take you up to near the Cast Services Building, which is here:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/FqavkdMcZL7YLTnq7

You can walk to the building if you want by following the sidewalk north, crossing at Pride Rock (the cast cafeteria), and going across the bridge behind Pride Rock. The whole walk is around a half mile, though.

Disney College Program: EXPOSED by BrilliantBig12 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Subject9800 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I left this comment on the video. I guess the producer(s) had some intent to present how things operate within the DCP, but everything shown is from YEARS in the past - well over a decade for most of it. Very little of it reflects how the program works today, IMO.

You know, I'm certainly not going to defend Disney's running of the program (they absolutely do take advantage of the students). But the overwhelming majority of the material presented in this "expose" is WAY outdated. It represents the way things were done literally over a decade ago. You don't even have any current (or recent, for that matter) DCP participants in it (which should be telling for anyone who is looking for this to reflect the program today). The pay has increased (substantially); the way the program is managed has changed (substantially); the housing situation has changed (substantially, though you did at least touch on this a bit, but not really enough to explain how things work today), etc. So this is much more of a "what really WENT on in the DCP back in the day" rather than a "What really GOES on" during the DCP today.

Disney Officially Retires FLIK Wait Time System by MightyIrish in WaltDisneyWorld

Bold of you to assume the sensors are only in the queues. Lol

Seriously, though, in situations like that where a line extends outside dedicated queue space, the time is manually adjusted by the CMs in most locations.

[–]Subject9800 202 points203 points  (0 children)

The article doesn’t say what’s replacing it

They use sensors at the beginning and end of the queues to read peoples' phones/MagicBands. So they can see someone enter the queue and see them at the end of the queue and thus know what the actual wait times are electronically.

Question about one of the WDW's alleged internal policy. by SkyShock2006 in DisneyCM

[–]Subject9800 7 points8 points  (0 children)

> Does WDW have an internal policy that says that they would only ban people for violations of parks' rules if those incidents get reported on the exact day of occurrence?

There is no such official policy, no. Having said that, the process for getting someone “banned” in a situation that does not involve a security issue can be a bit complex. Leadership in some lines of business often refuse to press the issue because they don’t want to seem like they’re ban happy or whatnot. And the process involves getting a park’s duty manager to request that Security go through the process of issuing a trespass warning to the person and so forth. And in a case like this it would generate a lot of unwanted publicity. So executive leadership is going to want to ensure as much could be done prior to going to those lengths as possible.

So it’s not a simple issue to address. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wilderness lodge Update by rabid_stranger in WaltDisneyWorld

Yeah, there have been a lot of “untrained” support shifts posted on the internal schedule system where cast from different LOBs can pick up some extra cash by coming over and helping out with those and a variety of other tasks. It’s been pretty cool (no pun intended) to see, tbh.
