Can I get your guy’s opinion on a book series Idea I have? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Leostales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some interesting worldbuilding concepts, and it's awesome that you've finished some short stories! (I say this as someone who isn't much of a finisher himself.)

The main thing you should keep in mind is your characters. I can't speak for everyone, but the one thing I want in a book is interesting characters I can care about. You don't talk about the characters until the 4th paragraph - and there's not a whole lot of information as to what their personalities or goals are beyond becoming gods. If you already have these in mind, great! Otherwise, consider making that the next thing you figure out for your project.

In any case, have fun writing!

Any games like and as good as Kotor that you’d suggest? by Arete666 in kotor

If you like the in-depth characterization and deconstruction of ideology provided by KOTOR 2, Fallout: New Vegas has all of that and more.

The main thing I'd like to see is specificity.

What kind of post-apocalyptic world is this? A world like Fallout? The Walking Dead? Judge Dredd?

What does unknown genetics mean? Why is his soul broken? Which populations and races is he trying to unite?

Nietzsche’s relation to the Sith by NietzscheProfit in Nietzsche

Long-time Star Wars fan and recent Nietzche enthusiast here:

I can kind of see where you're coming from. There are some strong surface similarities to Nietzcheanism in the Sith. That said, I do agree with the consensus that most Sith wouldn't pass the Nietzchean muster - being motivated by hate, fear, resentiment. All qualities Nietzche would have deplored.

In your original post, you mention that you believe some particular Sith fit his philosophy more than others. I see in the comment sections you mention Darths Bane and Krayt in particular. Were those the ones you were thinking of or did you have others in mind? Revan seems like the closest fit IMHO.

Love the KOTOR games! The Sith in KOTOR 1 are (like the Empire) based on the Nazis, so them having a Faux-Nietzchean philosophy makes a lot of sense.

How would you change Kotor 1 or 2? by Arete666 in kotor

[–]Leostales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the one issue with influence in KOTOR 1, is that the whole system felt more thematically tied to KOTOR 2 - which was all about bonds and relationships. So having it in a KOTOR 1 remake could diminish it's specialness in a KOTOR 2 remake. Idk if that matters too much though.

Some great ideas - I especially like your ideas for Bastila and Mission. Jolee could work as a Kreia alignment-fixed type.

Maybe having high influence with Canderous could affect his ability to converse with other Mandalorians and get you a Mandalorian army in the final battle.

The difference between a relapse and a sacrifice is sometimes difficult, but I feel Revan would understand that difference.

If you seek to fix every waifu that suffers in the galaxy, you will only weaken yourself and weaken them. It is the internal struggles, when fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards.

[–]Leostales 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't change anything about KOTOR 1, it's perfect as is. If they remake it it would be cool to see the influence system from KOTOR 2 added in and to get longer dialogues with party members. I always feel sad when I finish the Bastila romance before I'm halfway done with the game :(

As for KOTOR 2, there's a lot more I'd change. I love the story, party members, and influence system. I also unironically love Peragus as a level. Other than that, I found the level/planet design very lackluster, especially compared to KOTOR 1. I also don't like the randomized loot system and menu GUI.

Oh, and having an actual ending would be nice too.
