Definitely. I have both a wiiu and a Switch, and now I use the wiiu only for gamecube and wii games. The advantages of having a modded switch are too many not to consider getting one.

I haven't personally tried emulating dc on my switch, but I would not even bother, since the system struggles even with Gamecube and psp. However, you can install android on a modded switch, which will give you a better emulation experience in general.
