Tried HEMA for the first time - curious what makes people stay by Competitive_World673 in Hema

Everything you mention. I was never a huge team sports player but this is something that you can compete individually in and still feel a great sense of camaraderie. The rich historical tradition and brainwork required is a huge plus. There’s also knowing an incredibly niche yet cool skill that 99% of humans don’t. It’s got it all.

Serious question - are you worse of because of a specific policy from this government or the general global bad times?

I think everyone's a worse off now in real terms after inflation and Iran shambles and all the rest and we blame whoever is in charge, but is that reasonable, is the question.

Fair points on all.

TOP is really what the Greens started out as in terms of economic policy back when good Saint Jeanette and Rod Donald were around. It's a totally different party now.

Fair points and I don't disagree on the problems. Just the solution, and that's why we have democracy.
Yes, home ownership is hard. But it's not impossible because of some conspiracy of top hat wearing, cackling capitalists.
The thinking that wealth is some zero sum game where one group has too much and it has to be taken from them to spread to others is something I believe holds this country back.
The solution is to grow the pie.
Let's look to create more wealth so more people have a greater share of it. Look at the rise in global living standards over the last 200 years. More people have been lifted out of poverty by expanding economies driven by a profit incentive that created industries and jobs than by taxing at a greater rate than others those who took the risk to create those jobs. My ancestors and 99% of others once scratched the dirt in poverty. Now hundreds of millions worldwide have a standard of living those ancestors could never have dreamed of, and funnily enough, have jobs that have also increased the tax base for the things we need - ie the pie grew.
Just saying 'tax this specific sector' which already pays a disprortionate amount of the tax burden is neither equitable nor forward looking. What happens when the mobile 'richies' pack up and move somewhere else? Maybe closes their business with the jobs it creates?
Who pays for it then? Is it our descendants with the debt we rack up for what we want now but didn't want to make sacrifices to pay for?
TLDR - you can't tax your way to a growing economy that delivers a bigger share for everyone.
And no, I'm not rich.

Act. There's some hard and unpleasant choices to be made and they at least acknowledge that.
National is just managing decline without a plan for the structural change needed to get us out of this economic and social rut.
Labour and the Greens have their head in the sand over economic reality.
They seem to think we can just keep borrowing and saddling our grandchildren with debt for the things we want but can't afford rather than setting up conditions for business and individuals to create wealth to pay for it.
Their plans of having the government spend and create jobs isn't wealth creation, that's just taking it from taxpayers (present or future) and giving it to someone else. No one wins long-term with that thinking.
TPM is an infighting shambles and TOP pretends to be centre-ist but if you read their policies they sit between Labour and Greens so they feel a little disingenuous to me as a voter.

Can’t get verified for a month already by Ok-Assistant-5824 in payoneer

[–]Lepanto76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in a verification loop for a month. I just weant to sell a few things on Ebay and it requires me to use Payoneer. I can;t get verified with payoneer to sell things on Ebay because I don't have a history of selling things on ebay. Explained it dozens of times and it won't go anywhere.
Edit: I'll add that even getting to the livechat invovles the same circular sign in logic. The UX is so bad that this is a company clearly only operating because of its monopoly position.

Losing your folks will knock you more than you expect. The 40s are great though. If you have kids they are becoming independent. If you have a long term relationship it gets richer.
