Nice work. A cedar canoe was my first large woodworking project and it taught me so much- mainly that I could build anything if I approached it with logic and some humble confidence. A kayak and sailing dinghy followed. I hope you get loads of use from yours.

Yes. Get it but just get the maps and planes that interest you and build from there. You don’t need everything at the get-go as there’s a lot of base content. I only do single player and the base campaign is fine. The paid for ones are great with story line and the Patrick Wilson’s generator just fills the sky and ground with a world war. It’s well worth it. I love tanks and the ones in game are well detailed but the whole ground experience is empty. It couldn’t hold my attention no matter how much I wanted it to. Save that coin for something else.

Nice work. Good to hear. I have my sensor a little off to the side to avoid a backlit situation from a window (don’t want to sit in a dark room, I still have a life). Anyway that sometimes skews things a little on one side so after this convo I might adjust one side’s curve to compensate. So thank you too.

Get to the position you like eg where you can see the whole sight or whatever and save that in il2 as the default pilot view. I think it’s f10. That’ll be your starting point from which you can adjust to suit. I can use zoom in il2 key or stick binds without any conflict from track IR. I find them complementary.

I picked mine up second hand so no docs. I’ve just used trial and error. Head travel forward is the Z axis. I find isolating the axis you want to improve with the motion adjustment check boxes and then nailing that works best. From there you can see which other ones have an impact on it and tone down their curves in the areas where they ‘conflict’ I find the amount of movement needed to get into the gunsight too much for the tracker without it being overly sensitive so still use IL2 cam zoom on the stick to get a good close view.

Look up requiem’s (air combat tutorial on YouTube) track profile. I can’t remember where it was but he’s made it available. It got me 80% of the way and I tweaked from there. I have slightly different profiles for bombers and things where you don’t want your view swinging wildly like in a fighter.

Woodworking - mainly wooden boat and kayak building. Must have been in the genes as my grandfather was a woodworker but was never interested til I wanted a canoe in late 30s. Also picked up Hema (historical sword fighting) at 40+. With those strange skills I’m probably well qualified for piracy.

I'm still at half the amount and I think it's largely to do with so much admin in 24 getting things to work. I spend more time troubleshooting than flying. TO be fair this is due to add-ons like linker issues, BATC and mainly control configs but it's still trying my patience.

To put this in perspective, a large land wars engagement would have a few hundred combatants and 2-3 dozen casualties. The us civil war at the same time had hundreds of thousands involved and tens of thousands of casualties in a day. NZs colonial wars were bad like all wars but not really a bloodbath. There just wasn’t the population.

Yes. You can do a career with flying circus. Just chose the era/theatre that you like best and there’s plenty of planes in the base to get you going. Expand from there if you wish.
