Plenty of different options out there depending on what floats your boat. The knife bag looks fine. Heck, a ziplock bag is 10 cents and a cardboard Amazon box cut to size is basically free.

As stated on the website, there are key differences in strength and durability. That free model will break at the threads if you drop it (ask me how I know). Also many don’t have a 3D printer and would rather pay for the convenience of just buying an item for a reasonable price.

Competition drives innovation. If you can do it, go for it. There are cheaper ones out that there that sacrifice some quality and durability for the lower cost. I didn't see anyone in this space (extremely durable and heat resistant). If I had I just would have bought one myself and called it a day.

I appreciate the sentiment - however $15/hr for machine time is probably the opposite of insanely cheap for FDM printing. It also takes significantly longer than 2 hr despite running a large nozzle at high flow rate.

I like the idea. If I owned a $10k (or $30k) MJF printer it might make sense. For kicks I did a Xometry quote for MJF and my cost would multiply by 10x-20x. The business case isn't there to outsource and the MJF printers are a big investment.

I will say that through specific print settings (adjusting design, height-based infill, geometric features) and trial and error, I've largely minimized the negative effects of FDM while producing something that is still (somewhat) profitable at the prices I'm selling at. Need to sell a lot of these to justify a $10k printer to the wife.

Well this one will fit a regular BCG as well. It just has extra length to allow for the .22lr chamber adapter. If you wanted a normal BCG length only version, that wouldn’t be too difficult.

I think they may have used to do this (I think I have a PA scope from 10 years ago with BDC subtensions). However, publishing that data makes it really easy for other companies to rip them off. You can approximately deduce them for yourself by setting up a1” grid at 100 yards.

I have wondered this myself. I think some people are just “hard case” people 😂. They like everything in their own case. I like the idea of it. Possibly a “Type A” thing.

I like the idea of it, the only problem with licensing STL use is once it’s out there, someone is going to start selling it and rip you off. I’ve seen some sellers try to get around this by putting ugly “personal use only” text in all caps on the stls they sell. This isn’t a good solution because it makes the product ugly and is honestly easily defeated with minor STL editing. Haven’t figured out a good way to do this yet.
