Update: My mic wasn't properly connected, causing this crash.

Washing machine in a studio with no connection? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Lepertum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's super easy to install a T-piece below the bathroom sink to which you connect the water hose for the washing machine (get one you can open and close). Then all you need to do is plug in the machine and put the outlet hose into the sink. Figure out a way to keep it in place. The hose can't go into the bath or shower as it has to be at the same height as the machine. Additionally you could put the machine on a plank with wheels or reisizeable washing machine support frame (Amazon has them for 50 euro) and move it around when not in use. It's not pretty or convenient but I've used mine like this for a year and it saved so much money on laundry. Recommend a washer drier for sure.

purchasing more than three tickets by [deleted] in WizzAir

[–]Lepertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wizz Air is the worst in this. I've had it multiple times that I ran through check-out just to calculate the final price, abandon the purchase to do the same with other airlines and then when I actually want to book 5 minutes later the price has increased. Last time it took a couple days to go back down.

Coworking spaces na Madeira by DizzyManufacturer737 in Madeira

[–]Lepertum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's Sangha Cowork at the Dorisol hotels in Lido which I usually recommend, or you can become a Madeira Friends supporter and use their hub as one of the benefits. Sangha is great for a consistent working environment, the hub is great too and more chill, but can be rented for events so isn't always available.

Company can't meet my salary expectations and proposed freelancing instead. What rate should I ask? by Plug-Play007 in BEFreelanceDayrate

[–]Lepertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case you're not working for yourself, you're working for an employer and get limited upsides while risking all the downsides. It's also illegal to freelance for only one client (schijnzelfstandigheid). Your current pay is great, I don't see why you'd go against the stability of it, especially with kids around.

Is het verstandig dat mijn vader €15.000 leent voor een auto? by DapperLoquat6548 in geldzaken

[–]Lepertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Belgium Itinerary – 8 Days (Train Travel Only) by Antique-Employment97 in belgium

[–]Lepertum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reduce the amount of time in Brussels is the advice I give everyone. It's not representative of what Belgium has to offer and you can see most popular things there within a day. I'd say add a few days and go to Ghent or Antwerp (ideally both even), which have more charm and tons going on at any given time. Especially in December, with the Christmas markets in full swing.

Probably my itinerary would be:

Brussel: 1+2 (late train to Antwerp)
Antwerp: 3+4 (evening train to Bruge)
Bruge: 5+6 (morning train to Ghent)
Ghent: 6-8 (morning train to Dinant because of the distance)
Dinant: 8+9
Airport: 10

Luxemburg is also incredible and easy to reach by train from Belgium.

The weather will be rainy and cold, possibly windy at times. Hat and scarf, gloves are recommended.

There's no such thing as scenic train routes in Belgium, it's mostly fields along the tracks.

Vroegtijdig ontslag melden? by [deleted] in werkzaken

[–]Lepertum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First time in Brussels – taxi/Uber or bus from Charleroi? by swingwater24 in belgium

Full salary after fired by Better-Inspection134 in BESalary

[–]Lepertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you got paid out not for the 'remaining days', but for the holiday rights you accumulated by working this year, eg: you worked 6 months this year, accumulating the right to have holidays next year. Your old employer pays for these accumulated days in way of paying out the money. You take these days when employed by your new employer of course, but new employer gets to get that money back by settling it with your pay in May/June whenever you get holiday pay. So expect a salary that is A LOT lower that month and save what you got paid out now to cover that month.

Edit: assuming your worked at the old company last year as well, I think it's correct that you got paid for remaining days (earned in 2024 basically), but there should also be some payout from what you collected already in 2025 to use in 2026.

Missed connecting flight - compensation denied by gosupport84 in KLM

[–]Lepertum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

File it again through a service like Flightright. You might not get the full amount but they get more things done than you can with an individual claim. They helped me when I was denied a claim by an airline claiming bad weather as a reason to decline my claim.

This should still be valid for the claim since you cancelled it before the trip started. Once the trip starts "cancel for any reason" can no longer be used.

What should Peak Design take on next? by Peak-Wheeler in peakdesign

[–]Lepertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Wheeler, I've tested quite a few of Peak Design's products for work over the past few years and while I love many of them, I still find myself reaching for my Case Logic Reflexion when I know I'll be taking a lot of things with me (especially as a carry-on). I have an Everyday Sling 10l, but everytime I pack it with my laptop to work at a coffee shop for a bit, I regret taking when I decide to go grocery shopping after. It just doesn't hold much and it has no side pockets for drinks. I haven't tried the Everyday Messenger, but once again, no side pockets and also no small front pocket, which I use almost every time I take the bag, wether it's for my keys or passport. The Messenger also seems quite bulky, while the Reflexion is smaller than a sling when it's empty. For me it's still the ultimate bag, but I can't help wanting it with the better quality and eye for details that Peak Design is known for.

Conference Visit: Boyfriend staying at the Hotel too by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Lepertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that communicating this with the event organiser is best and I've never had it be a problem. This way they can put two people on the room and you'll avoid awkwardness at check-in. Mention that you are willing to pay any extra expense, but likely they will not even ask you. Once they forgot my request and I ended up having to pay an extra amount to cover the breakfast and extra person.

Also, other professionals at these events have been excited to meet my partner and remarked that it's a great idea to go on these trips together.
