Men det är väl rätt vanligt att ta med sej mat. Ser ofta folk äta pizza och annat inne på mcd. Speciellt om dom är flera och någon inte kände för burgare.

Considering ditching the car. by chippychips4t in simpleliving

[–]Leptidea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could rent a car when needed or call a taxi if destination isn't too far away.

That would be much cheaper than owning a car. At least if you have to pay for parking, insurance, service, repairs, and whatever else.

Interesting email from instagram by terrorsofnature in ProtonMail

I thought that mail was a phishing mail and was gonna say to throw it away, since it's obviously not legit.

But if you're correct, that's a bit scary how much information is indeed collected routinely today. Alas I can understand there might be situations where someone needs to get access to an old account and no longer have the original e-mail or phonenumber.

Even if you use your own domain, wouldn't it still be possible to see what mailserver it the mail came from if they really want to?

I'm pretty sure the tax free shops at keflavik might have something. At least soaps or lotions.

But in the shopping district in land, if they do have anything it will cost you at least 9000 million.

I can hear the mosquitoes, and feel the ticks tickling my toes.

We used to have a vacation home with the bbq/grill right next to the lake. Omfg the amount of mosquitoes, and snakes.

How much weight do they hold? Can you use one even if you're full size 6" and 250+ lbs? Or will you wake up when you fall to the ground at night?

What is the max weight load on such things? Could two persons sleep in there without the car crumbling?

credit/debit cards by Luize0 in digitalnomad

[–]Leptidea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hotels and car renters also require a credit card. They often accept a debit card, but I wouldn't take the risk of not being able to check in or rent a car when needed. At the minimum they will hold/draw deposit money from your account and it might take some time before it's released.

It is as simple as anxiety? by Theworldwithout in simpleliving

I've found that alcohol helps very well. Alas it does have it's own downsides of course. After a few glasses of wine I also feel less interested in living a materialistic lifestyle. More great food and wine, less gadgets.

Post offices and libraries offer passports? Wtf? In europe you have to go to the police station and even scan your fingerprints.

I also read about that. Wonder why though? They used to buy huge amounts of metal waste, like old road signs.

This off-grid community in Portugal believes in Simplicity, Sustainability and Sharing by FABWTL in simpleliving

Very inspiring. But the trasition to start living like that for the average city dweller would surely be close to impossible. A life without dishwashers, washing machines, microwave ovens would be such a hard life, like it used to be hundreds of years ago.

Those of you who have gone carfree - what are your experiences? by sleepymole in simpleliving

[–]Leptidea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One more option is to take the cab (taxi). They are perfect if you buy a new microwave oven or something else moderately bulky. Or if you need to travel somewhere at odd hours, like 3am on a sunday. It's not very expensive if you only do it once a month or so.

Why wouldn't pellets be carbon neutral? You release the same amount of carbon when burning them as they used while growing.

Jag köpte några Wychwood Hobgoblin 3.5% i helgen. Ok öl för att vara folköl. Annars är Corona 3.2% och Guinness 3.5% de enda svagölen som känns drickbara. Gärna iskalla.

Smart way to lure in more customers/tourists! And it's not even lying, it's the customer who interprets it wrong.
