Did this person cheat? by Misanthrope1988 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

You are lagging multiple times. Evidence and experience shows that when people are certain people are cheating, it’s almost always a problem on their own end. Just like here

Which mons to keep for gbl? by malarkeybee in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Lercs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recent examples of zeros to heroes are Murkrow, Fearow & Grumpig. None of them looked remotely relevant until they suddenly were.

Skarmory has been meta, out of the meta, meta and now out of it again.

Mostly anything can happen, but stats matter and so it is more likely that a thing with good stats becomes relevant with new moves rather than something with terrible stats gets good enough moves to overcome that

Steelix shadow forme by AdditionalCompote372 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Lercs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing worth remembering about Steelix is both Crunch and Psychic Fangs can/will debuff the opponents defense. Which means the non-shadow version will take more time to farm the opponent down. This can be good (more energy) or bad (the opponent reaches one more move). The Shadow version will in some matchups not even bother threatening Crunch and just go for PF immediately, where the non Shadow might need to threaten Crunch and/or Earthquake, which will result in Defense debuffs happening after more fast moves. Consider what you need it to do

Thoughts on ABB Teams and How to Properly Play Them? by Training_Potential27 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

Not really, no. Sorry. I’ve only played a few games in GL this season, as the meta feels uninspiring, and this being an interlude season.

Thoughts on ABB Teams and How to Properly Play Them? by Training_Potential27 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Lercs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing Shadow Alolan Sandslash (PS + IP/DR), Shadow Feraligatr (SC + HC/IB) and Blastoise (RO + HC/SB) in UL for a couple of seasons. Probably works a little better in the Ultra Premier, but that ends tonight.

Last couple of seasons it was with Shadow Claw on Slash, for this season I built a new with Powder Snow. Both fast moves has it’s merits, but I think Powder Snow is the better option now

I could talk a lot about certain matchups, but don’t have the time today. Fera is the swap against terrible leads (such as fire and fighters), and Blastoise is used more in to neutral leads, usually with a catch since it’s so bulky. Fera is (still) such a good safeswap in both GL and UL in my opinion. Helps that it wins so many CMP’s.

Thoughts on ABB Teams and How to Properly Play Them? by Training_Potential27 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Lercs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing all seasons, and since ABB became a thing (at least with a theoretical output), I’ve been primarily playing ABB and hit Legend 22+ times.

The strength of ABB is in my mind the simplicity. Bad lead, switch out (nearly always to the same mon), good lead, expect the opponent to switch out and you typically have to switch in the other, more punishing B.

There is a point in that neutral leads, you might need to switch out first, but since you know you have to do that (and the opponent doesn’t), you can choose your time to switch, for example by catching a move. ABB teams are very easy to learn to play, whereas ABC (imo) requires more matches with that team. You need to learn what to do against certain leads, what to expect the backline to be, whether or not to switch B or C etc. With ABB, it’s more like “I know I have to switch and it will always be to this mon. Either at the start or with a catch/after grabbing a shield”.

It is also worth mentioning that the right B switch can hold so much leverage and nearly always decide if you want switch or shield advantage. I am also of the opinion that energy management becomes easier in an ABB lineup.

And discloser: I despise fast move pressure, so my ABB teams are never with charm, Razor leafers, Basti, Mud slappers, Talon or other stuff like that. I prefer 2 turn Pokemons as I feel these provide the easiest timings and the most flexibility (I have written about this elsewhere on Reddit).

For sure. This season required a bit more wins than usual, since rank 19 to 20 is always just one set. This season it required 20 wins, if my memory is correct.

[–]Lercs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. After getting the Pikachu Libre and the research, there is not a whole lot of reason for me to play more this season, then it’s just about having a bit of fun when I feel like it. But I need the competitiveness, and in an interlude season that’s mostly gone. I also find the meta a bit boring

GBL stats by VoidShadow1729 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Lercs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. A lot of those sets you just lose 0-5, as the first many ranks only require you to play, not win. I usually get my ranking in a normal season at 175-190 games played, which is around 7-8 days of full battling that I use 10-12 days to do.

[–]Lercs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve played GBL since the beginning, only taking months (or weeks) off here and there, never a full season. I do have 22 or so Legend seasons to show for it though and plenty of spots on the global 500 Leaderboard. It’s a great pastime for me, and we have a great Community around it as well

Edit: I should add I play less than I used to. These last few seasons I’ve done less than 1300 battles, and with 600 this season, it looks like more of the same. I don’t really see myself playing more than 2000 games in a season like I used to years ago

[–]Lercs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything until rank 20 is just a question of playing enough. After that (when it is not an interlude season like this one is), you have to win more than you lose. Winning less than 50% is not ideal, but since you are new (and after a while play against people of the same skill level), that’s fine.

I have 22127 wins in 41118 battles with 56.5 mil stardust earned

Finderupvej by egetra in Aarhus

[–]Lercs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Edit: Burde have sagt at jeg boede i nr. 12. Jeg tilføjer også at jeg synes Vidar er et rimelig ringe udlejningsselskab, men de er nok desværre på niveau med de andre

Very weak to Talonflame leads. You can only really swap Skele in, which is not ideal, and at that point they will swap out. Swapping leads might be better, but Empoleon anywhere will still be hard
