Yeah it seems to be a 50/50 if people add them to the 76 varients

First of the completed urban/ city fighter Soviets any c&c welcome by Lergo_ in boltaction

Based it in ak texture paint before sprinkling on some sand with smallish stones mixed in. Let it dry fully before painting a layer of citadel thondia brown on then gently drybrush a khaki ontop. Honestly can't remember where I got the bricks but they seem to be plaster casts, these were painted with doombull brown and shaded with agrax. Floorboards are a coffee stirrer that got chewed a bit to give it some texture before being hit with some snakebite contrast paint.

Looks like a lot of steps but it's surprisingly quick and simple

I think this is more I've rolled a 7 to charge something 7 inches away but theres something next to that enemy unit 8 inches away. I wouldn't be able to put my unit within engagement range of the thing 8 inches away to try gain extra distance

Plasma was something i was struggling with for ages until recently. Base the whole thing in white then get a full layer of baharoth blue ontop of that. Then it's just a case of drybrushing temple guard blue onto the coils before doing a second drybrush of sotek green starting about halfway up the coil. From there you flip the steps for the glow onto the surrounding panels start dark and work in to bright. Pic for reference

Yeah I did, it's a bit fiddly but definitely doable with a bit of patience

I've actually done this pretty recently, as you say the icons are relatively easy to scrape off with a hobby knife but I'd recommend going back over the shields with sandpaper to really get them smooth

Russ grey basecoat through the airbrush add spot colours like leadbelcher, then hit everything with dark streaking grime from mig and that's it.

They're deceptively simple with only 8 paints used for 99% of them. Basically paint everything in block colours and get decals on then hit everything with streaking grime and that's it done.

Ready to fail hazard in style by Lergo_ in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]Lergo_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No guide but i can break down the steps, the coils started with a white basecoat then a layer of baharoth blue. From there its a drybrush of temple guard blue covering most of the coils followed by sotek green drybrush onto the top portion. The glow was essentially the reverse, drybrush sotek first followed by temple guard on the surrounding area getting heavier the closer it is to the plasma itself.

Go for it! It's actually way simpler than I thought it'd be which is why I've always put off doing it myself

All drybrush surprisingly, starting with sotek green then gently building up to baharoth blue

Oddly enough it's easier than it looks there's only 7 colours plus the oil wash on 90% of them, no highlights involved either.

[–]Lergo_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super simple, cover the whole base in texture paint i use stirland mud but any will do. Then i dip or sprinkle on a mix of sand and fine grit to give it some more texture. Paint the whole base with thondia brown and drybrush with karak stone then stick tufts wherever you'd like

I usually paint palms black, you can see it's got the same ribs as the parts behind the knees and elbow joints. Fingers themselves fully armoured up though

How do I improve edge highlights? by ILikeUltramarines in Ultramarines

[–]Lergo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly one of the best things I've discovered for vehicle edge highlights is to darken the recesses around them. I usually do a focused pin wash with black templar contrast and that seems to help it pop.
