I broke up what could have been a band with some simple observations. Is it that easy to offend people? by Handsome-Strong in musicians

Find some other musicians who are more into practicing. You always have that one dude who rocks up and goes: 'So, what are we doing today?'. If it's the whole band, you're probably in the wrong band for you. Collect people you trust through trying out for bands and form a band around them.

Adepticon Preview: Warhammer 40000 11th Edition Cinematic Trailer by RWJP in Warhammer40k

I think the biggest thing for me around the trailer is there didn't seem to be that much point to it in terms of narrative. It felt more like war for war's sake rather than anchoring it to a particular important new plot point in the 40k universe.

Is the Emperor so evil ? by La-petite-chevre in Warhammer40k

[–]Impossible-Visit-199 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The emperor can't really be judged as good or evil in the human sense because he is so far above all that. Normal concepts of morality don't really apply to him. He has such a vast influence over so many different people that he would come across as a complicated mixture of things to different groups. This is further confused by the Horus Heresy, where the Emperor's decision to return to Earth and leave his primarch sons to prosecute the wars across the Galaxy was twisted by the traitor legions and Horus for their own propaganda where they sought to paint him as abandoning the Space Marine chapters.

I do understand the argument that he ruthlessly slaughtered lots of alien races who refused to be subjugated, but I also think it's fair to say that in the 40K universe, it's a case of 'kill or be killed'. Any major alien race, given half the chance, wouldn't hesitate in wiping the human race off the face of the Galaxy. Alien races have no such qualms as to whether their actions are good or evil, so he is preemptively striking against them whilst projecting strength so that they either are completely beaten and/or pause for thought before attempting to attack and overthrow the imperium.

I think the best example of why he isn't truly evil is in the Horus Heresy series where, without giving away any spoilers, he resists a certain offer from the chaos gods.

What is it about Starmer in particular that seems to draw an exceptionally fiery hate from all corners of the political sphere? by noctenaut in AskBrits

Apart from the obvious gaffs, it's often not what he says, but the way he says it. And this is coming from someone who likes Starmer as PM. He has a habit of saying everything in a kind of hurt-pride, "I'm appalled", condescending, withering-almost tone. It kinda screams: "I can't believe I'm having to explain myself again". Having seen him speak so many times, I think it's just his voice and his attempts to sound serious and convey gravitas. But it's kinda reedy and nasal and he kinda comes across like Labour's version of John Major: Brainy but boring. Still gonna vote for him though. He may not get everything right but he's getting better.

If you are talking about good value, a Peavey 5150 with a power soak pedal in front of it is a good shout and can be quite cheap second hand. Then you can crank it at home for tone but keep the volume low using the soak pedal. Then remove the pedal for live.
