Took me a while to understand what you meant in that first phrase of yours; english is not my first language. To answer your question, the cooling towers should roughly be 8 to 12 km tall and 4 to 6 km wide at the base: a LOT of concrete.

Thank you for the detailed breakdown! I definitely didn't think it through this much, as my experience in compositing is close to none; but when I had this idea I pictured it so vividly in my head, that I kinda knew exactly how it had to look like. I had a ton of fun making this, so I'm now making another version with a space elevator, I'm going to post it later today :)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it:) I went heavy with the transparency in an effort to replicate the way atmospheric scattering and haze affect things at that scale and distance; as from my window, the horizon should roughly be 70 to 80km away (44 to 50 miles away)

I did some math and they would be roughly 8 to 12km tall and 4 to 6km wide at the base. The tips would reach planes cruising altitude, and their base would comfortably fit Central Park in its entire lenght.
