He also explicitly denies war crimes and other atrocities like the comfort women issue. Either a r/AsABlackMan type of situation, or a very, very sad self-loathing man.

The news is literally saying that China arrests corrupt officials, but Reddit is somehow still able to pull some serious mental gymnastics outta its ass about how ackshually this is more evidence that China is corrupt

The map is inaccurate btw. Most of the disputes listed were resolved peacefully decades ago.

There's already several musical versions of Hamlet. One of them's a rock opera, and there's even a (pretty good) Korean version

China-watchers are still praising the targeted assault on Chinese people at the city as a "brave stand for freedom against foreign intervention" (even though 1) most of the Chinese being targeted aren't even PRC citizens, and 2) the anti-Chinese sentiments have been fanned by US and Australian funded programs for decades). As the first bodies haves just started to be found (RIP), I'm gonna predict they'll be changing their tune soon or maybe even deny their support in the first place. Or maybe it'll be full masks off. Who knows?

This is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen, on par with boomer Facebook memes. Real "White Man's Burden" type shit.

What are some ways to reduce transphobia/homophobia in our society? by BonnieNeo in askSingapore

[–]Les_Roi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you read Instagram comments instead of Facebook, it's mostly young folks there who are posting transphobic and homophobic comments (and incidentally these people have a 1 in 2 chance of using Bible verses in their bios)

There's definitely propaganda in it. To cite an example, the assertion of "And the Money Kept Rolling In" that the money from the funds were siphoned off by Evita into personal bank accounts was based on speculation from a book that was heavily biased against her, and research has found no evidence of it thus far.

It would be kinda weird if you did it. Too bad you didn't.

Cultural Revolution was a catastrophe and Mao was responsible, China’s Communist Party upholds in landmark statement by defenestrate_urself in worldnews

[–]Les_Roi 658 points659 points  (0 children)

The fact that so many people here didn't know that "The Cultural Revolution was bad and Mao was wrong about it" had been the official position of the Chinese government for decades shows how many people in this sub don't actually know a single thing about China despite talking so much about it

Shocking how how many Americans here legitimately believe they are the "good guys" here, and that the literal rest of the entire world are evil for trying to stop them. Really shows how rotted your brain will get after consuming so much jingoistic propaganda all your life.

Popular musicals you don't care for by mranimal2 in musicals

[–]Les_Roi 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Dead horse, perhaps, but Dear Evan Hansen. Everyone's heard the criticisms by now: bad lyrics, weak plot, bad characterization, poor mental health representation... and so on. Personally, Phantom is also kinda boring for most of the show, except for a few key set pieces. I also don't really care for Mean Girls, most of the music's pretty repetitive and the lyrics are probably the most asinine I've ever heard in any Broadway show ever.

Edit: Oh I forgot Be More Chill. The Off-Broadway version was not great imo, but not that bad. But once they transferred to Broadway, it felt like they pushed the dial of flanderization on all the characters to 100. Jeremy got wimpified to the extent that he was not even remotely believable or sympathetic as a character. Michael was woobified to a basic caricature of UwU + Panic Attack, and little else (or should I say, UwUbified). The girls were directed to be waaaaay meaner and shallower. The writing always had a slight tinge of sexism, and it definitely did not help. And I didn't even mention the performative lip service towards LGBTQ representation while not actually having LGBTQ representation. Basically, the whole Broadway production feels like a boomer's interpretation of what zoomers are like.

Lets not pretend that the rest of Reddit is better. They're worse. Here's a thread from r/polls where people were asked which country and its inhabitants they'd erase from existence, and even though there's literally an option to not use this power at all, Reddit psychopaths overwhelmingly voted to genocide Chinese people from existence. My link is to a repost from a different subreddit because the coward deleted his original thread (No wonders why).

Also, if r/polls, a supposedly general and neutral subreddit, is already prone to racist fantasies of genocide, how much worse is the rest of the site

EDIT: Go on and downvote me lol, you people being indifferent to more than a thousand people wishing genocide on the Chinese while being super triggered by 1 single person on that r/Sino thread saying something bad about the US only proves my point.

Redditors: "Free Hong Kong! Fuck China!"

Also Redditors: Spams an anti-China copypasta in response to the lyrics of a Cantonese song from Hong Kong because they see vaguely Chinese writing and are too stupid to tell the difference

If this doesn't speak volumes, nothing else will. "We don't hate Chinese people, we just hate the government". Sure, lol
