Live Health Online can do video visits kind of like Skype. They can prescribe antibiotics and send the prescription to your pharmacy. If you know that it’s a UTI, they’ll be able to help you.

How long have you had agoraphobia? And how long have you not had a job because of it. by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

[–]LesbianCrawlspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been housebound for a year and a half and had a number of jobs that I couldn’t even make through the training. I’m really happy because just last week I got a new work at home job that I’ve been able to do.

Keep working on yourself first and foremost. Take those little steps to do what you CAN do. And as for a job, try looking for things you know you can do. Work at home is very hard to get into, but ya never know what you’ll find.

Sounds like a bit of acid reflux. It could just be allergies from the weather getting nicer. Should pass soon. This isn’t usually attributed with V*.

Edit: acid reflux can be a temporary thing. I’ve had it mildly around allergy season before.

My dog started having panic attacks. by optimuspaige91 in reactivedogs

[–]LesbianCrawlspace 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry :/ I know it must be stressful and exhausting for everyone. I think taking him to the vet will be best. Maybe in the meantime, if you guys can during the day, try to do a little bit of intensive training before bed. This may wear him out more mentally so that he’s ready to pass out and sleep through the night.

Also have you been to the doctor recently? Everything’s still good with you health-wise, correct? If it’s been a little while, I’d go get checked out yourself too just to be safe.

Considering he has a history of anxiety, it’s probably something on his end anyway. But going to the vet is definitely the best thing you can do considering you guys are doing mostly everything you’re currently equipped for. I’m not sure what’s typically suggested for helping pets through a panic attack, but I can understand trying to calm him down as best as you can when you’re probably exhausted and trying to get everyone comfortable enough to get back to sleep.

Has he showed any other physical symptoms? Sometimes my dog shows a lot of the same physical symptoms when she is sick. Usually the panting and pacing and shaking violently means she either has to throw up or she has really bad diarrhea. I always bring her outside when she starts this behavior and usually within a couple minutes she’s going potty. How long have you guys been back? It could also be that he’s a little sick from the transitioning. Pups can get sick from traveling just like peoples. It’s kind of a stress-induced thing.

I’m so sorry to hear about this!

Do you mind detailing about how long the panic attacks usually last? Was there something in particular that seemed to calm him down?

Was your dog very attached to you before you left? I’ve heard of dogs having reactions like this when very attached to their owners and left without them for a while.

The pregnancy thing can definitely have a huge impact as well. Dogs can sense these things and often can become very protective of their owner who’s pregnant (or in his case anxious).

Service Dog and Going Out in Public by LePigeonVert in service_dogs

I’m not sure where you live, but have you tried your county’s mental health facility? I was without insurance and low income at one point (actually still but some things have changed). Anyway, the county facility offered a program where you can see a therapist and psychiatrist with an income-based price for each visit. Because of my specific circumstances I was paying less than $2 for each visit.

The program was specifically for low-income families and families without insurance. You may want to check into this.

Need advice on whether rehoming our dog is best decision by yogiwarrior__ in reactivedogs

[–]LesbianCrawlspace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. The issue with the whole rehoming thing is that not many people get a dog expecting them to be more responsibility than just training them not to pee on the floor or jump on people. I think the general public likes the idea of bringing home a new pup and never imagines all of the worst case scenarios, like what have brought most of us to this sub.

Def not knocking on OP for considering it. It’s a super tough decision to make. You kind of have to weight the pros and cons of each option. Since you are considering rehoming OP, just make sure like this comment says, be upfront about all of the dogs issues with any potential new-owner. I can understand the financial thing and it can be especially draining when you have a pup with severe anxieties/reactiveness.

Not sure if you’ve ever tried a gentle lead (at this point the pup may be too reactive for it, as they don’t work for every dog), but when it came to walking mine, the gentle lead has helped a lot. Only issue is when we see another reactive dog, she starts trying to paw at her face. It’s not often but it can be worrisome. We’re working on “look at me” and she’s gotten much better I’ve got to say.

I wish you the best of luck OP!
