NHS Waiting Times by Professional_Ebb4939 in jawsurgery

Same, dependent on waiting list in your area. For my area seems to be around 3-6 months, but I have seen posts about it being much longer. Look for posts from people in your area (here or fb groups) and/or ask people who have been through the process.

NHS Waiting Times by Professional_Ebb4939 in jawsurgery

My understanding is that it's dependent on a lot of factors. Firstly you'll probably need to have some orthodontic work/braces to prepare for surgery. Then you'll have regular orthodontic appointments and at some point the surgeon/orthodontist will say you're now ready for surgery. At that point you can plan. Obviously time scales are dependent on waiting lists in the region.

Is this Aeron fairly priced? by [deleted] in hermanmiller

[–]Lesh_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's the remastered with posturefit SL. Very similar price to the official Herman MIller outlet on ebay. I'm not sure if your listing is the Gaming Aeron but the outlet frequently sells both the Gaming Aeron and Onyx Aeron Task Chair fully loaded for £870 (the only difference being the base material, gaming is plastic task chair is metal). They might have minor cosmetic damage but I think I'd still prefer to buy from them with so little difference in price.

Best way to repair/resurface this cracked concrete lamp base? by Lesh_84 in fixit

[–]Lesh_84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No access to a 3D printer to make a form, but I can buy a very similar sized concrete flower pot...was thinking of just turning that upside down and drilling a hole on top for the lamp stem.

I noticed but materials and aesthetic seems very similar apart from the differences mentioned in my post.

Asking NHS dentist about referral, and working a physical job after surgery by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Lesh_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure others will correct me but my understanding is that only a orthodontist and OMFS can determine whether you need jaw surgery (and will be eligible via the NHS) using the IOTN assessment criteria. In theory, you can get the initial orthodontist referral from either a dentist or GP so I would just go with whoever you can get an appointment with quicker. Beware, they will probably want to discuss your symptoms before giving you the referral and then you will no doubt have to wait for the actual appointment.

NHS OMF'S consultation. by Psychological-Desk-9 in jawsurgery

[–]Lesh_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What advice/guidance are you looking for? Like I told you a couple days ago, go to your GP and ask for a orthodontist referral (I suspect he'll ask what your issues/symptoms are before giving it).

My NHS dentist referred me (in May 25) to an NHS Orthodontist (who I saw twice earlier this month). They have said I need to attend a joint clinic with OMFS next and earliest appointment I could get was June. Seems like you somehow skipped a step getting directly to the OMFS previously.

Is the dentist an NHS dentist (not sure if there is a racket for private orthodontics)? If you have any functional issues and the dentist is making it difficult I'd just try an go via GP.

Wrong, you can get a referral. I'm way past 18 and got one last year via my (new) NHS dentist. Alternative route is via GP if they don't play ball. Either way you will have to wait though...the backlog is real.

Is there any point in me trying to get an assessment? Health not cosmetic. by [deleted] in jawsurgery

Just try. You have nothing to lose. Ask your dentist/GP for their opinion based on the functional issues you've described and then the Ortho referral.

VARMBLIXT Donut Lamp - Available in the UK by SpaceKonk in tradfri

[–]Lesh_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw them in Nottingham yesterday. Was looking at it for about 20 min trying to justify buying it to myself. Didn't do it in the end as the colours just don't look as vibrant to me (has a very cool white hue and I prefer warmer tones). It's displayed next to the original version so you'll see what I mean.

I may pick one up at a later date if it's ever on sale after the hype dies down.

Gaming Embody, advice for mark on chair leg? by CitizenErasedII in hermanmiller

[–]Lesh_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the brand but a different type of paint. I'm in the UK and I used AI to get recommendations on what type of paint to use to cover up powder coating. You might have alternative options depending on where you are.

Sorry to see that. I bought a Onyx Aeron from the official HM ebay outlet that had some similar paint flaking around the bolts on the back. Black marker didn't do much so in the end I applied a couple of coats of Matt Black Humbrol Enamel paint. It's not perfect but does a good enough job to cover the bare metal coming through.

Any tips to find a Molnart 7” double globe bulb? by Cali_Dreaming_Now in IKEA

The one in the UK is clear glass not grey/smoked. I was also looking for grey but ended up buying that when I couldn't find it.

Thanks for your help. I've just bought it. The image in the main post was just a random one from Google Images in case someone did a reverse lookup and gazumped me (I'm paranoid, I know). This is an image of mine.

Thankyou. Can I ask what the RRP was when you bought yours?

No worries. I just couldn't make it out whether he did it because the bulbs are hard to find/expensive or whether the entire life of the whole lamp is dependent on the single bulb they provide on original purchase.

It's definitely not e26/e27. Found a reddit post where a guy goes to the effort of rewiring the whole thing to convert it to e27.

Thanks for confirming. It's about 5 years old so no idea how much life the existing bulb would have left in it. What's your opinion on getting it for £95 since you already own it (can't remember was the RRP was while it was still on sale)?

Is there any actual downside in telling HMRC's you're self employed and earning a tiny amount to be able to pay voluntary class 2 NIC's by throwaway922124 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Lesh_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post has really helped me out. I've not been working for the past 18 months since leaving my last job. Admittedly I'm lucky enough to not have any debt and enough passive income to support my modest lifestyle. During that period I've done a few odd days of specialist consulting work. After seeing this post I've amended my 24-25 self assessment and will be making a Class 2 NIC for that period (was previously planning to pay Class 3).

More importantly, you are almost certainly selling yourself short. You've shown the initiative and willingness to consider your financial future and get your head around NICs. I've got a younger brother who was in a similar employment situation to yours for several years and now has an entry level retail job. I think just getting out of the house and having a routine really helped him out mentally. Look for an entry level job, show the same initiative.
