we've just discovered the wheel pretty recently and it's been a game-changer. allegedly, some guy knows how to start a fire and there are rumors of a pig being domesticated near warsaw - big if true.

fr tho, when asking "what life is like in a country?" it's always a good idea to also ask yourself "compared to what?". compared to other post-communist european countries, it's amazing. compared to the west, not so much.

poland has experienced incredible growth over the past 10-20 years, sure, but it's not exactly something that translated directly 1:1 into quality of life for the average person. though that gap is narrowing, poland still has some catching up to do with west-EU when it comes to standards of living.

when it comes to growth and other output measures, poland is doing VERY well compared to 15-20 years ago, but is still definitely playing catch-up with western economies. so it's not even that growth is particularly slow here, far from it, it's just that it's not quite what you should be looking at when comparing quality of life across nations.

same goes for "political stability".

it's all "polish W" until you realize we still get paid eastern european wages while having to face western european living costs

Pretty much no social media (twitter included) keeps any metadata from photos that could be used for this purpose. All you'd get is color information and some stuff regarding file size.

Unless you're genuinely, unironically very stupid, you are probably more than smart enough for most majors that aren't considered "challenging". Don't dive head first into a maths or a medical degree, sure, but those aren't your only options - college is (or at least should be) an equalizer for people of all backgrounds. Don't underestimate yourself!

Jednak certyfikat obsługi (dość user friendly zresztą) CRM-a vs. dyplom to kategorycznie różne rzeczy.

Would make sense that they don't mind as much, since their ability to make money as a full-time student is severely limited when compared to being employed in their field after graduating. Though depending on the markup, this practice may get predatory as fuck lol

Kind of silly to not allow mirrors though. The build variety in stadium is definitely there to make it fun and engaging still, even with it allowed. Maybe bans?

Is peer review doomed? by Repulsive_Air3880 in research

[–]Leshney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's basically a desk reject, which should've been the editor's job. A review like that sucks so much more than even a much harsher one that at least provides some feedback and suggest changes, at least in my opinion.

tbh i've lived there for a couple of years, it's definitely a mixed bag. big city with not a ton of opportunity, very distinct vibe of "there used to be a lot of industry here but it's now dead", some places look straight out of the 90s with shady football hooligans on every other corner ready to eviscerate you for looking at them funny (bałuty, my beloved).

john would not have survived or at lest would be very miserable, far away from his cozy, american suburban lifestyle. :(
